ADDED 4 DEGREES TIMINIG AND IT HAULS.........THANKS
have a sbc with the best of everything , that wont go above 3200 rpms
i have been chasing this deamon for months and when i thought i had it licked i was wrong, it is a 383 sbc that has eagle crank, eagle h beam rods , aluminun pro action heads, ect ect. an 13 1/2 to 1 compression. it will hit 8000 rpms in a second out of the water but in the water 3200. i had the pump rebuilt also with a b cut impeller on a berkley pump. i will go threw what ive tried chasing this down.
1. changed to a new set of heads 1500.00
2. bought a 1200.00 msd marine distributer and box
3 went back threw the heads and installed different springs.
and still 3200 rpms, so i ordered a cam from lunati that they recommended and it was almost identicle to the one that was in it. the boat went faster with a 300.00 bone stock 305 than it is now.. so does anyone!!!!!!!!!!! have a suggestion,
please!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is the timing set at now?
Have you checked it with a different timing light?
The reason I ask is because I had one of the digital timing lights that was 13 degrees off.

WOW!! I guess it's as possible as anything else. I just never figured for whatever reason that a timing light would be wrong, especially THAT wrong. Thx for the wake-up there. :)

It Hits 5200 Now On Pump Gas And A Edelbrok Carb Instead Of My Barry Grant. And It Flys Out Of The Hole. Little More Tunning And My Nos I Hope To Hit 100mph.
Thanks Again

and it is a 16 foot tahati
It will be quick and fun, but I'm pretty sure this is "not" the hull you want to go 100 in. These hulls have a deep v entry and like to swap ends quick if you set them down to quickly. Just saying....be careful. :boxed:
Superdave's buddy a very long time ago had one like your w/a small block. Says that it was a very fun boat.

Just FYI........... MSD strongly suggests the use of a standard inductive timing light with their ignition systems, no degreeable lights. I've seen some of these lights that actually did read right occassionally with the MSD stuff but most will not with the multiple spark, capacative discharge ignitions. That 100 MPH deal ought to be interesting. Let me know how that turns out.

It was an Equus.
