I've sent the $$$ off to start my new engine build. I'm building a 545 BBF, w/ Blue Thunder heads (stage 1 porting), Victor 460 intake (race ported to match the heads), and I have Lightning water jacketed headers. The engine will be in the neighborhood of 750 HP on premium pump gas (10.5:1 compression), and will see a 250 shot of laughing gas.
I'm looking for some carb advice. I plan on getting a Holley Dominator series carb and I thought I'd need an 1150, but was told a 1050 would work, and it'd give my better throttle response. What do you carb guru's suggest ? Is there a big difference between a 1050 and an 1150, or am I splitting hairs here ? I found this one on E-Bay,

a decent price I thought, but I'm looking for opinions before I spend the dough. THANKS !

Make sure it is a annular discharge Dominator. They work much better on a jetboat. Budlight

My best advice to you is that if you are not carb savvy yourself the best thing you can do is have a pro carb shop set up your deal for you. You will be much happier in the long run. If you can get a good deal on a used carb buy it and send it to someone who knows what they are doing. I highly recommend Braswell http://www.braswell.com/index.htm , they are the best by far in my opinion.

Yup, Bowtie ex. flanges, 100cc chambers (for pump gas application), severe duty valves, and stage 1 porting ! They match up to the Lightning Water Jacketed headers. They were an extra $500 from the guy I purchased the boat from, well worth $500 I thought !

I was under the impression that annular discharge flowed low cfm's ???

That was the plan ! I know enough to stay the hell away from trying to tune one...LOL ! TOO much $$$ into this build to fry it because I was to proud to ask for some help.

Hard to pick a carb size without knowing cam #'s and what the heads flow? What RPM? Go over to www.460ford.com and you'll get some good advise from guys that have built and dyno proven some bada$$ stroker Fords. I run a 1320 CFM on a 514, but others run a 850 DP on a 557. It all depends on your aplication. :)
