Hello everyone. I am new here and are hoping you can help me. I frequent Speedwake.com and several members told me to come over here because there are several jet boat guru's on this site that could probably help me.
I am restoring my fathers 78 Sanger super jet for him as a Christmas present and have about completed the project with the exception of a few minor things. It just came came from MitcherT Custom Painting and I spent the entire weekend installing the new interior which is about finished.
Anyways I am searching for a set of good used over transome headers for a 460 Ford motor. I am not picky as to wheter they are jet coated or chrome. I am just hoping to save a few bucks because this project has gone WAY over budget and I still have some other stuff to go. :rollside:
I will post some pics today of the Sanger I am restoring and maybe you guys can throw some other ideas at me that maybe I have overlooked. I personally own a Sunsation 32 Dominator with twin 700SC motors and haven't messed with a jet boat in about 15 years which is when I owned one last. :)
Lets here your suggestions and ideas and thankyou in advance. I am really hoping some of you can help me out here.
Scott

Here is a before pic of what I started with about 5 weeks ago.

This is a pic I took today. I totally gutted this thing so the only thing original is the drive, motor and hull. Everything else has been replaced, refurbished and repainted.

Since you already have holes cut in the transom I would look for a set of water injected thru transom headers.

I have a set of polished billet aluminum disc's with the same bolt pattern as the exaust tips so plugging the holes will only take about 10 minutes. The over transom headers just look way too cool on these old boats and that is why I am leaning in that direction.

with all the laws about noise starting to effect each outing,i would not rule out the thru transom headers.there is a set on ebay now, just type in BOAT HEADER .you must be an auto enthusiast, via the high back buckets and butterfly scoop!that is one kick azz paint scheme though!i like the sangers,it's similar to my rogers.

Actually the scoop has been sitting in my garage for years from my street rod days and thought it would look pretty cool. The seats were the only thing I could find that I liked, unless I wanted to spend a small fortune. I looked at some seats from Eagle One that are designed for boats like this but they looked WAY cheap and actually cost $50.00 more per seat.
I saw the headers on ebay today and wish I could call the guy about them but I had a bad experience on ebay last winter and someone tried stealing my identity(What a pain in the arse that was) so I refuse to login in again.
The scammers out there really make a mess of things at times.

Better plan on buying mufflers then, and STILL hearing from Mr John (Johnny) Law about them. There are getting to be a LOT of noise laws arround, even here in the midwest.
Personally I thinbk Jacketed TT headers are the way to go. I love mine. They are SPENDY tho.

Thankyou. The nicest part of this is my father has no clue that I have done all this to his boat. So he is in for a big surprise come Christmas considering he just wanted me to get it running again and replace the shifter cable.
That pic always kills me when I see it. The Sanger looks like a toy when it's parked next to my Dominator in the garage.

Thankyou very much. But the credit has to go to MitcherT Custom Painting & Graphic Design. He is among the best I have ever seen and is a great guy to deal with.
We have become quite good friends in the past year or so and he gets ALL my business when it comes to any kind of paint work I need done. He painted the race hatch on my 32 Sunsation and it looks just AWESOME! So I wasn't concerned with how this Sanger would look when he was finished.

I actually got lucky and found a set just an hour away from me. They are in nice shape and after a couple hours of polishing last night 60% of the bluing has come off by using just Mothers aluminum polish. What works good at removing the bluing?
