I get a raise for 4.5%, putting me at $7.35 an hour; and, inflation is 4.6% this year. So, I'm getting paid less for being my boss' "#1 man".

I don't know anywhere you can live on $7.35/hr...except with someone who pays the bills.
Time to find a new job, bud. Ask around here...I'm sure someone can hook you up.

LOL.....everything is true except the hourly. The point is, I'm getting 0.1% less this year for being a top performer.

sounds like you need to tell the boss to shove it and get another job. Im not sure what I make an hour since im straight commish, but I know damn well it wouldnt pay the house, boat, car, truck, rail, trailer, and credit card payments!! at 7 something an hour.

He didn't want to disclose his hourly, he just put up a figure.

I am the boss. Maybe my budget manager knows. It's salary plus bonuses though; so, I doubt he even knows.
It's besides the point though...inflation is sucking the shit out of everything right now. Your overall portfolio could be doing 10%, but real money on that is only 5.4%.

Just ran across this, but not knowing your area, can't be more specific .... here's the NATIONAL figures.... Jan thru Aug.
2006 3.99% 3.60% 3.36% 3.55% 4.17% 4.32% 4.15% 3.82%
3.88% so far dude, not 4.6%
And I just got a 4% raise, and my insurance went up 50% ($70 to 101 a month)

If you are on a salary, you're getting boned. Nearly everyone I ever knew who went from hourly to salary got shanked by the extra hours, first in, last out, and no extra pay for it. What they THOUGHT was an increase on the salary, was a real loss when you added the extra hours in.

The fed stats are easy enough to find, but I pulled them here.

I've taken a pay CUT two years in a row and am taking home $350 less bi-weekly, than I did in '03. Inflation being what it is, is nothing compared with two of my three kids are now teenagers.
Thank God for overtime.
