Seen some pics in the forum of what looks like Lenco on flywheel covers. Are flatties using Lenco trans? Can they down shift?

Originaly those covers were on Hydros using two speeds and on flatties using the clutch pack for smooth transition to forward motion. They were and still are used as flywheel covers and drive cover adapters.

The transmissions are pretty much designated for drag boats. But you will see three types of transmissions in the boats. Lenco, B&J, and Owens.

I use a lenco in my PGF/UGF and it works good. I've had a few little issues but I guess that is normal. Also run a Owens as a back up. We've had it for over 8 years and never had one issue. Change the oil on Saturday and its good to go. They are not made to down shift, however a lenco will down shift if you loose air pressure. Lenco is air to hold in high gear and a owens is air to hold in low gear.
