I drive a BMW 323 (a fancy Jetta, imho), which requires syn oil every 15k miles (seems like WAY too long). A BMW racing shop mechanic sez they change at every 2k with Kendal 20/50 dino oil - best results compared to all else. Another shop sez change it w/ syn every 7,500 (which is what I do personally). The reason for the 15k, I was told, is that BMW DOES NOT want their engines to last the legendary 300k miles, but rather, to die sooner so they can sell us replacements more often for greater profits. Anyway, way off track, but sorta related.
