I seem to get Engine check lights all the time on my cars. On the way home
from Pheonix I programmed the EDGE up to Extreme and got on it coming up the 8 freeway. All of a sudden my engine light came on and my truck would not go over 2000 rpms... Pulled over shut it down and chut the engine off restart and ran fine but the engine check light came on.
My buddy that was with me said I have a programmer at home and I can take a look. So we get home and he breaks out his little $99 programmer.
out and tells me the issue and resets my check light.. Pretty cool!! Had to read the code in a little book!
I want one. Anyone know which one is best?? What code to GMC products use? I saw this one and it tells you the issue on screen..

Must have sent the over boost code.... I thought the Edge came with a programmer/code reader? Any vehicle that is 96 and newer should be OBDII complient so get a reader for OBDII which is pretty much all of them. Make sure it can reset the codes. There are some very cheap ones that are read only. I picked mine up at Pep Boys for around $100 and it works on all my cars, truck and motorhome and it gives you the discreption/failure on the screen

Probably the same one he had as He said he got it at Pep Boys as well!
Worked good but we had to search through a book to find the code. Kind of generic. Having a read out on it for $50 more I think would be worth it..

This thing is pretty neat. It will read, clear codes and a lot more.

I have the Predator. You can program different tunes, scan and clear codes, and recalibrate the speedo. I haven't had any problems, and it works great.
