I have a friend that want's retire in your state "on the water". She said something about Tims Ford lake. They have never been back there. They also are thinking about South Carolina. They have a sail boat here and are selling it and thinking about a toon and a small sail boat later. There house closes in March. Any help you two might have would be great.
Thanks, Mike

I have never been to Tims Ford but I hear it's beautiful, clean, deep not crowded. Having vacationed in SC before it's hot and humid as most SE states are but they have gnats and big azz skeeters. SC is a beautiful part of the country but the water in the ocean, bay, rivers is murkey.
I live in Chattanooga and the TN river runs through the middle of the city. The TN River is dammed and used for power generation. But all the dams have navigable locks. So I can and have taken my boat from Chatt to Knoxville, TN for football games. I have friends who have taken their boats from Knoxville, TN to the Gulf Of Mexico and then on to the FL Keys. Our River and Lakes are not crowded at all. As long as you stay away from the cities the lake lots / house are still very affordable. The closer you get to the cities the more expensive the lots / houses are.
If they want more info on my side of the state send me a PM and I'll help in any way I can.

VOLS better step it up next season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A bunch(10-12) of us WEST COASTERS go back for the home games in Knoxville at least 5-6 times a year. We've met some people who are a part of the VOL Navy. They used my place in AZ. last year. Cool Peeps back there.
See ya' in the fall!

They like this river also. She though it would be nice to take a sail boat down to the Gulf.
Know of any homes on the river for sale.

You mean the "Couldn't make it to even the most obscure bowl Vols"? Man they really stunk it up this season. Great thing about Knoxville. Even when the Vols suck they still got the Vol Navy  . That's so cool that you've been there. I've done that trip from Chattanooga by boat 5 times. Never get tired of it. Maybe we'll se ya in the fall.

Yes, I just sold my lot on the river  . (made an arse load of $'s thought :D ). Here are some links to 2 of the realtors that "Specialize" in waterfront properties. And there is the Chattanooga area mls. Problem with the mls here is you can't do a waterfront search. You just have to know were the waterfront areas are.

Oh yeah.... Ironically a lady that worked for us years ago turned in her notice, she and her husband sold all their crap moved on to their sailboat, and sailed it to Boca Raton, FL. She would email us updates about the trip from her laptop. I was sooooo jealous

Here are some pics of The Nooga's waterfront. Took them mid summer and now there are even more docks and all the consturction is complete. I have forgotten how many thousands of feet of dockage there are but it's amazing.

You can also visit our website(its new and still being built so its changing every day) www.stonewaterrealty.com The links you will need to search out the areas that you are interested in are already in place.
I have never been to Tims Ford Lake but I hear its very nice. I have no doubt it will be one of our stops this year. PM me if there is anything I personaly can do......
Good Luck.

I noticed RO mentioned SC as hot, humid, and full of mosquitos. He was talking about the "Low Country".
The SC mountains up around Greenville are the opposite. Lake Hartwell on the GA-SC line is a great lake with lots of room and low land prices.
Lake Keowee near Clemson, 25 mi. from Greenville is deep and clear. Many new upscale subdivisions and if they golf, a new Nicklaus course that had a SR PGA event last summer.
Lake Murray on the outskirts of Columbia is a little farther south and a beautiful lake.
Tell your friends to make the circuit thru TN, the Smokies to western NC (Asheville is a must), into the SC mountains. They'll see some wonderful scenery, plenty of growing communities, clear deep lakes, and some of the best trout fishing in the nation.

Good point. I have only been to the low country. Does the northern part of the state look like NC?

Not likely with the big pumpkin in charge :)
Nickajack is one of my favorite lakes. Very pretty and fun to be around when they do the jasper races. Also happens to only be 40 minutes away from a family cabin on Little River above Desoto Falls.
BTW - in summer - skeeters are everywhere...one of the advantages of an outboard :)

Yup, lots more airtime on Chickamauga and the water is a little cleaner. The one thing our lake lacks is a party cove. I've been to the one on Louden and seen the one on Watts Bar but none on Chickamauga or Nickajack (unless you count Downtown Nooga)

It's right on the edge of the mountains. Lake Keowee is beautifull with mountain views.
If you ever get a chance Lake Sidney Lanier here in Atlanta is to me the finest lake in the SE. Clear water, 650+ miles of shoreline, lots of coves, mtns. in the distance, big stripers, and on the weekends the infamous CockTail Cove @ Lake Lanier Islands. On typical Cove Sat/Sun you'll see 300-500 boats rafted in groups from 80' Houseboats and 50' Yachts to any number of badass powerboats. Lot's of T&A, party boats and the like. Yet with all the traffic you can easily find a private cove too dally around. Lake even has a Gay Cove for the bench racers. Just cruising Lanier and looking at high end lake houses makes for a fun day.
I've trailered up to the TN lakes and they are super but Lanier is hard to beat. Hartwell has been growing steadily in popularity due to the weekend crowds at Lanier plus cheap property and the growth of Greenville-Spartenburg-Anderson-Clemson.
I'm in the process of moving back to Houston and leaving Lanier and NW SC is the hardest part of my decision.

Yeah we dont want to get to many people moving out here.
But to answer your question there are no lines on the ramps and barely any wake if you can find another boat.
