Anyone use "QuickBooks Premiere for Contractors". I just bought it at $400 vs. the Quickbooks Pro at $200. The contractors version is "supposed" to be the sh!t...taylor made for contractors, etc. I will use it for invoicing, line item seperating, expense tracking, billing, etc,and 1099'ing my subs in a few days.
Does anyone have an opinion on this program before I open it up (this weekend)? Is it worth the extra $200 over the Pro version?
Thanks

It most likely has industry specific information and categories built into the programming to save you the trouble of formatting things to your own needs.

We've been using QB since 99Pro. Went to 2003 Contractor and just upgraded to 06 Contractor in November. The Contractor Edition is basically Premier with some built-in reports. It will handle AIA billings, has some pre-filtered reports for jobcosts and some other misc. contractor stuff...all things you can accomplish with Premier (same cost) and for that matter, also Pro if you are adept at filtering the reports. Some of it you will use, some you won't. Contractor supposedly has built-in Workers Comp insurance reports, but we set up "classes" to do the same thing when we started with 99Pro. If you haven't looked yet, you can compare the various versions here (http://quickbooks.intuit.com/commerce/catalog/fragments/quickbooks/2006/products/compchart_qb.jhtml?sellLocation=CATALOG/PRODUCT.prod0000000000007994337.overview.m00000000 00002273314/leftNav.6/0000000000003421362&lid=0000000000003421362)
Do you need more than one user to access your company file at the same time? Peel out another $400 per user agreement. Don't close that wallet yet - are you going to do payroll with QB? Intuit used to offer a one-year subscription to the tax tables with a new copy of QB but that ended with 06. Another couple hundy. But it will track your payroll liabilities and generate 941's, 940 and W-2's turnkey. Have you talked to your CPA yet about QB? That's probably a good place to start. Is QB worth the dough? Definitely IMO. Is Contractor or Premier worth the extra couple hundred? Maybe. Maybe not. :)

Quick books pro... your CPA will be happy... Peachtree sucks.. You can set up a database using Access in microsoft office.. Works well. Customer history, invoices, and all contact info...

Thanks for the input. Yeah, I had seen that comparison table but I wanted "real world" reviews like you guys gave me. You're both right about the CPA thing since she's the one who recommended QuickBooks.
