I got hit today with a homepage hijacker. the "new homepage" was called theuptodatesecutiry.net It took norton 10 friggin hours to get it cleaned up. They think it may be some sorta "time bomb" that has been sittin in my computer for a while and went off today. The only place it could have come from today was a one song download from WalMart.................when the phoney home page comes up you also get a very real looking microsoft virus warning that wants you to download some "special" removal tool.

Must be real new, nothing about it on the web, yet.
If you are running Windows, you need all the security updates.
If youi are running XP, you NEED SP-2. It's a big download to install, and takes a while to install, but get it.
You can also order a free CD from microsoft, just to avoid the download.
Worst mess I ever had to remove was About:Blank hijacker. Once you uninstall it (forcibly, it took a dig thru the registry to finally kill it), it screws up the winsock controlls, and you have no internet ability. There is a downloadable fix, easy, if you ALREADY DOWNLOADED IT FIRST!
Thx for the head's up. :)
