How will the gas save you money in the long run???? Not bashing your choice of engines or anything. I'm just wondering. :rollside:

To start its $6000 more.....
Diesel oil change = $60
Gas oild change= $30
Gas per gal (costco) $2.35
Diesel per gallon $2.65
Do the math...You guys need to hang on to your diesels for 7-10 years to make the $$$ up on the 5 mpg more you get. Plus, lets faace it weve seen alot more problems with diesel on the boards, i.e. Fuel injectors, Trannys (fords) etc.. The 496 will tow almost 11,000 lbs which means almost ANY boat, oh i forgot, it wont tow it up the cajon at 90 mph.
Dont be a hater cause you hopped on the bandwagon before the cost of diesel fuel went up....

I'll be watching my mirrors this afternoon for the big 8+ lifted truck with the 5' tall guy that can barely see over the wheel coming up behind me on the pass like I'm a friggin' moving chicane, when I'm going 75!
I remember last year in a snow storm on Cajon having a group blow by me with constantly changing visibility. No concerns about anyone else's safety I guess.....
No offense meant or intended to the size challenged by the way.

That's a great engine and tranny package.... I had one like that a few years ago and it ran like a champ. I would just suggest not putting a lift on it. Gas mileage was decent until I lifted mine, then it went down the tubes. It went down to 8 MPG (sometimes 6 while towing).....That's the main reason I went with the diesel this time. I have the same lift and get between 16 and 18 MPG while driving to the river...For me the extra $4,500.00 was worth it...

I'm with River918. My friend has the 496 package and it is an awsome gas package. I never considered the difference in cost ever being paid back in fuel $$. I bought the deisel for the torque pulling my boat and the boats we test. My boat is a 28' with twins and I have to pull everything from 25' to 40' to test. No comparison in pulling power and the money I save in fuel for two trips to Havasu per month pays 90% of my truck payment. (comparing my Suburban to the new Duramax)
I am not knocking your truck at all. That is a GREAT vehicle and huge difference in $$. Only giving you my reasons why I picked the deisel.
Your truck is beautiful and with the interior package you got makes you forget it's a truck! Enjoy!

How many months do you go to Havasu per year?
Sounds like you'd save even more money if you put the boat in storage out there :D
I'd get a diesel if I was towing relly heavy stuff on a regular basis... Like a skiploader on a small flat bed or something ;) :D

I have been thinking about a new truck, maybe I should PM Jay the truck I just built on the web and see what he can do.

I'm sure he can help you out....I had bought two chevy's in the past from a different connection I had. The best deal they would give me on my 2006 HD 4X4 Duramax was $500.00 over invoice. Jay killed that deal, + I never had to go to the dealer. I have now bought two vehicles from him and haven't had to go to his office for anything. The two were delivered to my house at my convenience and the paperwork was signed in about 2 minutes. The best car buying experience I have ever had.

Check these out on eBay. I bought a pair and they look GREAT on my door above the 2500HD emblem....(I bought the smaller, not Super-Size)

Why should only the Duramax get the Bling? I hated the fact that I had my dream truck, but for all I could tell it was a 6.0 and a 4 speed!
This guy (byflip) on eBay has got a lot of cool emblems. I am happy with mine, so I don't mind promoting them on the boards here!
BTW, I bought the truck from Jay too, and if it weren't for all the rumors that would start on HB, I would have kissed him for the deal he cut me!! :p Give some props to his protege, Nolan (if he is still working with him).
Congrats on the new truck, and enjoy the 496 MAG, I love mine!!!!!!!!

this guy bought a truck he is happy with and works for him.Leave it at that not everyone prefers a diesel so let it be.and like said earlier you do need to own diesel for 100k plus miles before you are even close to breakin even.My brither got on the bandwagon for him it aint all what it was cracked up to be.
And for those who brag about towing 90 up a grade you are only as fast as the slowest big rig going up the cajon pass cause you are restriced to the right 2 lanes. My 6.0 gas can do that towing boat(keep up with flow of traffic.LOL
