Got this awhile ago and maybe its old but interesting
a billion seconds ago it was 1959
a billion minutes ago Jesus was alive
a billion hours ago was the stone age
a billion days ago no walked on the earth with 2 feet
a billion dollars ago was only 8 hrs and 20 minutes, at the rate our gov. is spending it
Now consider this, A Louisiana Senator is asking Congress for $250 BILLION to rebuild N.O.
Whats that mean???
every resident of N.O. (484,674) man, woman and child would get $516,528
Or the homeowners of N.O. (188,251) would get $1,329,787
a family of four would get $2,066,012
Politicians have no concept and use the term "billion" carelessly.
The Iraq war is now at approx. $320 Billion
Pretty amazing huh?? NSF

And a Billion is a thousand Million.
And a Million is a thousand thousand.
Just for those who think a Billion ain't that much.
So when the gov talks about 80 Billion for this or that, that 80 billion represents Eighty Thousand Million $.
:) :) :) :) :)

That's 2 million dollars every minute
or $33.333.00 every second.
Those guys know how to party.
How does it feel to know that if you make around 100K a year it takes the government about one second to spend your income tax donation?

So if Bill Gates net worth say 50 Billion dollars, the government would spend it in about 17 days.
If Bill lived 50 more years he'd have to spend $2,750.000.00 a day to use it all up.
Those gov guys really do know how to party. :)

Since the crash of 04..lol So if Bill Gates net worth say 25 Billion dollars, the government would spend it in about 8 days.
If Bill lived 50 more years he'd have to spend $1,375.000.00 a day to use it all up.
Those gov guys still really do know how to party.

Read this while in Vegas earlier this week.
The owner of the Venetian took 11 years to earn his first billion.
With good performance from his investments in Vegas and Macau, he has earned approx $23.6 million per day, approx $1 million per hour, during the past two years.
But the stat that really caught my eye - if he continues to earn at the above rate, he will catch and pass Bill Gates sometime in 2012!
A million an hour and it will still take 6 years to catch BG?

Sounds like a lot in dollar terms, but in % terms of GNP, the #'s are not out of wack.
BTW - one of the tools of the government to deal with debt is to make sure inflation never gets below 3%. It is easier to pay today's debt with tomorrow's dollar with inflation at 3%+. Think about it, people in 1977 who had a $50,000 mortgage thought that was HUGE. Now many lenders won't even bother to do loans that SMALL. It helps that they make their own money.

Yup, sometimes you have to just stop and give it some thought befor you realize just how small you are in the grand scope of things. But; to the man with no shoes you and I look like Gates or whoever. These figures just astound me. An old employer once told me (dont know if this is true) that if a million dollars is a stack of brand new $100 bills it would be 8 inches tall, then a billion would be as tall as the Washington Monument or I think thats how it went, I'm getting old. Wrong!!!
A stack of $10,000 in OLD $100 bills (which dont stack as well as new) are about 1" thick. Which means that $30,000 is only about 3 inches.

I stand corrected. I added a 0 or dropped a decimal. I came up with a bill being approx. .004" per at 300 $100 bills = 1.2". It sure seemed like a big sack full.. Maybe had the stack been a foot tall it might have lasted longer...
