thinking of a spring trip to the tetons & yellowstone.
will pull the toybox and bring the road bikes for some touring.
any suggestions on when it gets warm enough to ride, don't mind wearing leathers, but want it to be enjoyable.
so what time of year is best and any rv parks to hub out of and destinations or places for our rides.
have 3 weeks to use from gulf coast to tetons & back.
usually do the fall trips, but due to hurricanes and obiligations can be away duirng the early fall!
thanks

Not ideal for motorcycles till at least late June.
It's cold at night up there even in July & August.
Check the chart with monthly averages at MSN.com weather.

We rode through in August this year being our fourth time through by motorcycle.

thanks for the info. did not realize the narrow window for temps above freezing.
looks like june, july ,& august are about it. tough times for us to leave due to
that being peak hurricane season here on the gulfcoast.
was it crowded, lots of vehicle traffic? we are both seasoned riders, but like to
ride slow and enjoy the sites.
thanks again.

It wasn't too bad traffic wise but there's always a fair amount of it.
Before you go, check road conditions at the various entrances, there's always road construction somewhere in Yellowstone.
This summer the East entrance was all torn up coming in from Cody.
We detoured up to Red Lodge Mt. and came in on the Beartooth hiway(one of the most awesome rides anywhere by the way) but we got caught up in a chip sealing operation and had to follow a pilot car after a 40 minute wait. :yuk:
Anywhoo......it's slow going through the park with low posted speed limits and often traffic comes to a stop while wildlife crosses the road.
Mostly buffalo, the Elk and other animals don't stand around in the road like the buffalo do.
If you are looking at a map figuring time to get from point A to point B within the park....triple whatever you come up with.
