finally got the bottom done [Archive]

well we stayed up till 2:30 last night to finish up the bottom of my new ride..It had a crack in one of the strakes about 5 feet long. since we had it fliped we cleaned up and blueprinted the bottom. its all with in a 16th with a 1/4 in rocker in the last 12 inches. finished her up and shot some speed coat on it. i think it turned out great since we had to basicly take the whole strake off to fix the crack. special thanks to Scott at Precision boatwerx for all the help and late nights..

Hey, the interior turned out pretty good from these pics.
I think that'll be my next project after next season.
I found the paperwork on the engine and the guy I bought it from must not have looked at it. He bought it earlier this year, only used it for the summer. I talked to the guy he bought it from. The previous owner bought it new. He replace the 454 with a 496 crate that he had beefed up a little. Punched out to 516ci at 500 HP and 560ft.lbs.
I think after next summer I'll look at updating the pump. Just going to have fun with it as a snail.

AZ #s got cut last night complete at midnight, I will stick them together then get your address and send them out. Just don't have me spend $40 to overnight them then not use the boat for a couple months like SOME people.
Thanks Cy. i just got the engine set in. time to start wiring and plumbing and fire her off and set the timing... looks like she will get wet by wed.. so hurry up and ship them...

engine is in its all wired and ready to fire after i get valve cover gaskets. then its time to fire and set the timing. after that all i have is to set the pump and seal her up....

well i decided not to do the setback till next year after i get the aluminum engine built. BUT by then MY NEW HULL should be done so no worries. no real gains and only headaches with the power im pushing now.

its just a little 454 nothing special... stock 049 heads small cam small bolt rods.. pretty much stock... doing the research now to do an all Aluminum 509 NA deal for next year but we will see..

damm shawn looking sweet ... but i have a ? the back of the boat is that a type of air entraptment on the outer edge..or is it for cosmetic reasons ???? to me it looks like a varation of a gullwing ...still ...i like it good color combo
yes it is suposed to be a small air entrapment.....we will see how well it works today :Dim hoping for 70 - 75 off the trailer.

RAN GREAT.... setup is off but we got her to 70 dried out but not aired out. she likes a lot of down nozzle. turns hard, rides good. just got off of Havasu playin for the day.. lots of pepole starin at the 3 freeboard challanged boats sitting in the channel :D

Every older couple that we passed as we idled through the channel seemed to be talking to me (but i could'nt hear shit!) but the funny part is,....they were saying "Its too loud!" shaking their heads! :crossx:
People should realize that our boats are how this whole "boating thing started out!"
It was definitly odd to see how people stopped by as we moored in the channel just to say hi!

She launched real nice and strait, but at about 1/2 track she lean pop'd, lost some R's and set her on a burndown pass,...well, all until that so called "INDIAN" security officer (Really just an over weight Chicano with a bad attitude) obstructed my lane and could not finish the race,...and it did'nt help that i had to look at The t-shirt out in front! lol
