Some of you may have seen a post a few weeks ago about a deal Avi emailed (EM106) that offered a 2 day stay (any 2 days), 2 breakfast buffet coupons, 2 dinner buffet coupons, and $25 of gas for $69 thru October 31st. Well, leave it to the indians to welch out on an advertised promotion! It had no disclaimers about ending the promotion early, but that didn't stop them. Just TRY to get the EM106 deal as advertised! Isn't there something the Nevada gaming commission can do about false advertising?

So if we have the reservations already, can they still back out?

I don't know how. Of course, I don't know how they can back out of an advertised deal good thru the end of the month either.....

You've heard the term Engine Givers.
I would wager the Avi being on Engine property they may very well be outta reach of any Nevada state control.

There it is.
Dice sets the character of the place IMHO.

That sucks......I hope the people with reservations based on the "deal" actually get the "deal" when they show up.

well what do you expect?
I stayed there one time and that was only because the CBBB was held there.
All and all I try my best to not spend one red, white and blue cent at any of the tax exempt Injun places.

I do believe craps tables were in full effect.

Mike
Lisa called today and the AVI is honoring their promotion so if you made reservations already under that code then you shouldn’t have to worry at least that’s what the AVI told us. However, AVI only sets aside a certain amount of rooms for this promotion and those rooms are now booked. As of this morning the AVI still had a couple rooms available for this weekend but you would have to pay the regular price for a standard room which I think is $69 each for Friday, Saturday and $22 for Sunday.

The wife tells this story the best:
We checked in to the Avi, and the rooms weren't made up, nor did the beds have clean linen (sheets).
A note on the bed explained several reasons why and for how long it would be until they would be changed ( possibly overnite). All the guys in the group were hitting the Margaritas deluxe, wanted to gamble and go boating and didn't care of course.
The girls were creep'd out deluxe, wouldn't have it, fired up the cellphones, checked us out and we all departed for Harrahas within minutes.
Never been back,, and imagine never will.
I bring up the Avi at the Sandbar, and the girls get amp'd and the story looses nothing in the telling.

Avi is in Laughlin (technically), but I understand what you're saying. For those that don't gamble, it's a great deal for a place just to crash for a couple nights and raise hell at the lounge. The $69 deal makes it REAL affordable for people to make it to FC in the Fall, but if they're gonna jerk people around, it isn't worth dealing with them. I guess the promotion was too successful...... they're losing their ass.

I have been there twice, both times for CBBB.
I have nothing but good things to say about the AVI.
The place was awesome.
Course that was a couple of years ago, maybe things have changed since then.
Too bad some of you didn't have a good time.

I had a great time also.
But I look at all those injun places like this:
I pay my taxes and feel like everyone else that lives inside of the USA should too.

I agree in essence 'ol SD.
Problem is, our country jacked the Indians pretty good. Self reliance is a good thing.
At least the greater portion of money the casinos and employees earn is still SPENT in the US buying supplies, food, rent, and and and.

our country was built that way. We came, we saw and we took it.
That was hundreds of years ago. We won so get over it.

Ouch SD.
We came, we saw, we kicked your ass, ey?
I agree in essence with what you are saying.
All I'm saying is, even though they DON'T pay taxes per se, it isn't true they KEEP all the money they earn, alot of it is still being spent in the US.
The indians speak english, and for the most part have assimilated into the US as the rest of us have.
I think a greater problem we have to unite for are the wire transfers headed south out of the country.

So would you rather spend your money with an Indian owned establishment or a Chinese owned hotel? Just stirring the pot.
Personally I've never stayed at the Avi. But I'll never return to Bluewater for similar reasons. Not because they're Indians. Just because they suck at customer service.

There's plenty of crappy customer service all along the river...... doesn't have to be Indian. My problem with Avi lately (other than the deal) is that they really don't seem to give a damn about the boaters anymore. Whether they EVER did is debatable, but on the last trip out a few weeks ago, it was obvious they feel they don't need the boaters there any longer. Hang out in the parking lot "tailgating" (as the geriatric bike cop called it)? Nope, no more. They say it's because we pee in the parking lot. Hang out on the beach at night? Only till 10pm (although the old guy patrolling that section was cool to us). Even at the ramp they have their heads up their asses.
This is the first time I've stayed at Avi in a LONG time, so I don't know if I just hit them on a bad day, but if they jerk us around on an advertised deal, there's no reason to go there, and I'll see if I can make a deal at a place upriver.

I think the AVI caters to us boaters pretty good. Stay in one of the other hotels on casino row and see how much they care. Security at the AVI has always been good. They are always asking me questions about my presence in the boat parking area. That is a good thing guys not a bad thing. I have come in to AVI late a couple times and they went out of their way to unlock the boat parking so I could put my boat away. I am talking late too after 1:00 AM late. However, I think the reservation staff does need some customer service training and some of their policies need to be changed a little. In regards to the pissing in the parking lot who wants to step in piss anyways? I sure don’t. Who wants to smell it while you’re wiping down your boat? I don’t. It’s the truth people are peeing in the parking lot. I can see if you got to go then go we all have those times we can’t hold it but damn at least try to make it to the bathroom the next time. I think we need to police ourselves a little better.

I've stayed at the Avi a few times, never had a bad one. Yes, it doesn't have the flash of a big named resort, but for what you pay it ain't bad. I recall it had full card and dice tables, because it's a Nevada compact casino not a California one. I think Harrah's is a much nicer hotel/casino, but I rate the Avi above the 20 story trailer called the Riverside any day...
As for limited space promotions, all sorts of businesses do it..Look ata lot of big car dealership ad, "One at this price" will usually be somewhere on it. Southwest does it all the time with the "49 dollar anywhere we fly" promotions. About 15-20 of the seats on their planes are for that promotion, the rest pay a regular fare. Ya, I been sucked in with them and it reeks, but it's as old as advertising is...

Indians are subject to all Federal Taxes that the rest of us are. (Nevada has no state income tax) The gambling compacts they have require them to give a percentage of the proceeds to the state, in lieu of taxes, and impose the same gaming rules that other casinos must follow.
The idea that Indians pay no taxes is a myth. They are just exempt from state imposed taxes while on their home reservation. Anywhere else they are the same as the rest of us.

We've pretty much felt that no matter how they treat customers at any Laughlin Hotel, people keep coming.
They don't have to treat ya nice, they're booked most the time anyway, reguardless.
Bluewater does seem to be trying a little harder in the customer service area,, or so it seems. Or do they just remember the wife being a good tipper?
Damfino for sure.

I have no problem with limited space promos, but there was no indication of this AT ALL. No disclaimers in ANY advertising. Hell, you'd think they'd WANT a disclaimer included to add a sense of urgency and fill the rooms quicker.

Hey Roost just got back from the Avi talked to two managers I know down there.I made a point to look them up and get their side of story, and tell them they were getting beat up here a bit.The special is for Sunday thru Thursday until the end of October. They assured me it stated that on offer and could never offer that on weekends as they sell out with out any offers any way.I`m not taking sides just want to relay information so everyone know both sides. They were also told of the other concerns/complaints and were very disappointed about them but can only deal with things in real time...They want boaters there and will do what it takes to accommodate you people.
