View Full Version : Havasu lake views...I don't get it

To me "most" of the views in Havasu which are considered lake views are very, very ugly. I am talking about all the wires and poles in the view towards the lake. Who wants to look at that shit. It is ugly as hell.
My home in BHC has a back yard that is considered my view. I purposely bought below a hill so I did not have to put up with any more wind then I had to due to a pool I have. Plus I wanted complete privacy in my back yard.
Why do you guys pay premium dollars for a location with a "lake view" and you have to look thru all those wires and poles or look at a postage stamp size view? I would much rather have a view like John/Michelle had at their old house of the BLM land as I thought they had a beautiful view. I don't get it.

To each their own.....
Originally all of the utilities in Havasu were supposed to be underground. The city let the utility company delay doing that for whatever reason with the 'promise' that they wpould do it later on.....Well it's later on and it aint happened yet.....

I didn't pay a premium. We back up to a wash (which is down below so no flooding or erosion problems) so we have a nice desert view and if we go into the backyard we can see pretty much the whole north end of the lake. If it weren't for one house in our way we could see it out the back window. Of course we are a couple miles away as a crow flies so that only constitutes about 3 postage stamps of a view.

You can have the wires put underground on your property...of course then you hope you neighbor does the same...and so on and so on.
It really isn't a big cost to do
Fortunately it aint a big deal to me as we do not have a pool yet, meaning I don't spend a ton of time in the backyard. If I want to use a pool I go around the corner and beg Slowie to let the fat white kid in..... :p  :rollside: :)

Yep. Need some cash so we can make it an observation deck on top of the patio cover.

It really isn't a big cost to doThat's just the wires from the pole to your house. Even if everybody in Havasu did that, there'd still be the darn utility poles with the wires going from pole to pole. :)

I agree, havent seen to many houses in Havasu with that nice of a lake view...plus, seems like the ones with nice views get obstructed eventually when someone builds a house on the empty lot behind or in fron of them....either way, i drive thru elsinore everyday and have seen just as nice view from houses in the hills above the lake. Now i have seen nice views from havasu houses that back up to the desert, plus you can take your bikes out right from your garage!

Yes. Lake view. Back in the corner of your lot, if you stand on your tippy toes and look over the 6' wall, around the 60 poles and many wires and the neighbor doesnt have his rv out, you too can have a "lake view."
Best view in Havasu this here view!

Actually....
The views from John/Michelle's new house make the views from the old abode seem kinda claustrophobic :)
Floating in they're pool, cocktail in hand watching the sun set over the Windsor basin...

Here is a pic from our back yard area. The front of the home has a much better view of the water buy the moutain sunsets are great. The last couple nights the moon was really shinning on the water. We are above most homes and yes no wires in my area. It is nice to be able to sit out and look over at the mountains and lake. hhttp://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/500/1592Garage_Party_5_06_039.jpg

I dont have a house in Havi but I did have telco and power lines running diagonally across my back yard. One Bobcat excavator and a weekend later, the yard was clutter free:D Still have the damn pole though.
I have the best lake view in Havasu from my boat

I clicked on it and the view does look nice. Is that from the front/side? What part of the lake is that view towards?
If you are thinking of selling, what are some of the specs/price you might be looking for? Did you get the landscaping completed?
The one possible negative is that slope to the garage
If you walk out the front door and look down the street (left) thats the view
I actually stressed the garage roof to hold a Jacuzzi!! YEP!!
I was going to post that pic but thats cheeting a bit. We were up there eating pizza and checking out the full moon and the boats last sat!! WOW wonderfull view and weather!
The lot farther from the water from me (next door) is asking 200k I am asking 475k and the aproach is verry small as I put the 28 pontoon or the 257 carrera in the garage no problem. The garage is 1500 sq ft and 42 ft deep and the doors are well? giant so its easy to just drive right in at about any angle. It easily fits two 30 foot boats side by side and a full size truck and some quads and bikes and rhino!!!

If God didn't want us to have poles, he wouldn't have created them. :rollside:

Yep... the wires are everywhere.
I had looked at some houses down at the lake level and I found the noise was just to much. Also if you wanted a lake view there was always something in the way. Wires, trees, a house.

Tom, it is fairly obvious that you don't care for Havasu, the Lakers, the Dodgers and I am sure some other stuff that I can't think of......and I appreciate your posting every negative article about Havi from the Havasu News (that we can all read anyways). :) :p

I drive around town, and I see the poor poles tethered to their leashes (wires), and I think to myself "Free the poles", "Set them free", "Someone please untie them".
Poor poles................. :)
And, I like my view, but it would be better without the wires.

I don't hate Havasu at all. It is all in good fun with the going back/forth. LHC is fine for the occasional partyfest but is too crowded for me personally. I will be heading out away from BH as it continues to grow larger. I prefer my own little party and less others that are obnoxious. BH is getting real close to losing me as a homeowner there. St Geo Utah seems like a nice place....Hmmmmmmmm
I seriously only post news that I think people would be interested in from time to time. I scan at least 6 newspapers a day and most are on the internet these days. I also post stuff about BH/Kingman/Monterey, etc. Just something I have always done.
You are absolutely correct about the Dodgers/Lakers though....F THEM!

Thank you. I would rather look at my back yard or the desert as a few have mentioned in this thread. I think the raw desert is the way to go unless you have a totally unobstructed, uncluttered close view of the lake.
Here is mine and I have total privacy at this point which is my ultimate goal. Nobody needs to see me or my guests running around...ahhhh, shall we say in their birthday suits :) This works for me and maybe the other lake views work for you. To each his own but like I said...I just don't get it.
http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/500/1871111_1115.JPG
Very nice backyard. When I paid the 30k premium on my lot for a lake view, my investment was secured at that or greater value. When you paid the 50K+ premium to build your pool and landscape around it, your investment took an immediate turn to the south. That's why we fools (or at least some of us) pay a premium for a semi obstructed view. :D

Yes, but you'd get rid of all the tri-plex and phone and cable drops... that's what really clutters up the view... Everyone has 8 wires running to their houses...
