I put the 440 in the flat this morning. Set the motor as low as the oil pan will allow. Crank center is 3/16 of an inch higher than the center of the input shaft, and the rear of the motor is up 1 inch higher than the front. Drive shaft is 19 1/2 inches long. Will this work or do I need to rework my oil pan to get more clearance, and drop the motor. THANKS AGAIN!

RiverDog, It sounds like your engine is too far forward. (driveshaft being 19 1/2 inches long) Measure from the inside of your transom to your first motor mount, should be about 30 to 32 inches, depending on wich hull you have. If its an early to mid sixties hull then 26 or 28 is common. Please post what hull it is again,or call me if you want. TOM 530-885-0531..

Tom thanks for the reply. it is a, best I can tell, mid 60s baron with a center deck. The first mount is 29 1/2 inch from inside of transom. Will those angles work? thanks.

RiverDog, Yes that is OK. Normal motor location would be a little further back. Angle is acceptable. You can lower back of engine a little if you like. TOM.. (left a word out)

Tom THANK YOU VERY MUCH for the info. Its really great to be able to pick the brain of some of the best in the biz. You should collaborate with some of the others on the board and write a book on v-drive, and general boat rigging. I want the first copy.
