Buzzen to many R's, time for a gear change. Anyone know how tall a ratio will fit in a Casale 10deg box before having to machine the case for clearance??? If machine work is required, are the water jackets on both cases machined??? Thanks...

You can get 45's in the box with some minor drum sanding, 40's will fit with no modifications.

On the casale that was in my boat 40's would not fit. I could only get 37's in it with out doing anything. You will have to clearence both cases and the mounting plate.
take a look here (http://free.***boat.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=8;t=000959)

That is right. 37's will always fit. 40's most of the time. It just depends on the casting. Some are shifted and a little thicker in that area. TOM..

I haden't even thought about the plate. With forty's in there now, it seems I have a winter project ahead of me to fit a set of 54's. Thanks for the help!!! Greg

I tried a set of 40,s & they did not fit either.I am running 37,s & they barely fit.

I would seriously not even want to mess with the whole project but...the thing is buzzing 8800 rpm and I am certian something will let go sooner or later, probably sooner as luck would have it.
Anybody know what ratio typical K-boats run???
