Whats a fair price for a 100 hour service? I was quoted $498.98 from Castaic Marine.
This is for a Volvo 5.7 HO.
Any ideas on where else might be better in the AV or Santa Clarita area?

What do you know, you own WHACKERS! LOL
If they do everything, 500 to 600 dollars is normal.
Usually, the items are.....
oil and filter, fuel filters and water seperating filters, drive oil(and clean out gear oil bottle) pull drive, check alignment and check gimble bearing, PCM scan, check hoses and clamps, check prop shaft, check belt for wear and tension, check motor mounts and all safety tabs, service trailer(air in tires, grease hubs and check straps and lights, check the impeller output. Remember that the new 496 impellers and some 5.7 impellers are a complete unit and could cost about $350.

I have used Bob at Burbank Marine for a couple of years. His shop is not much to look at, but he is honest, quick and very reasonably priced. He is Volvo qualified, in fact Teague referred him to me when they found out I have a Volvo outdrive. It is a bit further of a trip for you, but worth a phone call. (818)729-9155.

Perhaps more important than price , would be " who do you recommend to do the 100 hr service ? " An incompetent person can do a lot more damage than you would save by price shopping...

Have the impellers on the 496 changed since 2004 ? My impeller can be change less the housing but if needed its $500 for the housing.

when owning a high end engine...say a TCM 800 or like, how much are service fees in comparison to a regular merc H.O.? Any thing special that needs to be done to the big boy toys?
