ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Tag, you're out! Officials at an elementary school south of Boston have banned kids from playing tag, touch football and any other unsupervised chase game during recess for fear they'll get hurt and hold the school liable.

im not fat, just big boned. :skull:
every school is afraid of lawsuits, there are just far too many people around just looking for an excuse to sue. i have 4 kids in school and everytime they want to do something it requires me to sign some stupid disclaimer page, its just the way things are these days.

finally a voice of reason
the government continues to blame many of the school cafeterias for the fat problems of all the kids when we offer more healthier stuff than most restuarants with great selections and the freaking asb's and student services continue to sell chips, high sugar drinks, candy.....some local school district even sell pizza hut (btw we bake our own), extra meat sub sandwiches, and lot more crap...now in the same place where they falsely claim we make the kids fat now they are stopping kids from doing what comes natural..running and playing :yuk:
like i have always said if you teach your child to make healthy choices early in life they will continue to make better choices through-out their life..but if you take them to mcdonalds or places like this early in life they will want that stuff later in life...not raging on the fast food industry but its the truth :p

Blame stupid rules like this on attorneys and sue happy idiots in this country. I know my oldest son who is in kindergarten, can only run when he is on the grass during recess. Friggen ridiculous.

Back when I was in school, they let us play Smear the Queer. I think that's also frowned upon these days.

Question: When was the last time you saw a sandlot baseball game going on?
Basketball, touch football, and soccer seem to be happening, but I just haven't seen any baseball. When I was a kid there were neighbor hood diamonds everywhere. Just curious if anyone else noticed this.

Blame the lawyers again, or rather this sue happy world we live in... would you want a group of kids playing on a vacant lot you owned??? The first cut that required stitches would have an ambulance chaser pounding on your door....
sigh....

I really wish this surprised me. Next recess will be cancelled, the busses will be more heavilly padded, as will the desks, etc. Yes, thank the piles of poorly-skilled attorneys (aka "ambulance chasers") who overpopuloate the US today.   Yes, AND the parents out to sue for a fast 20-million bucks.

Our elementary school doesnt even allow kids to walk to school. One kid lives so close that it is closer for him to walk to his class than to walk from the point where busses drop them off, but he has to take the bus and if he misses the bus, mom has to walk or drive him over. Wish I livedclose enough to test this rule. I would love to "watch" my kid walk a few hundred yards to school and have the school tell me I cant do.

That's absurd. Now all the stories of walking to school, in the snow, uphill both ways are gonna die out.

This is why I don't mind paying $300 plus a month for my girls dancing , they do almost no pe in 5th grade . There's only 1 boy that does more pullups or situps than 1 of them in their grade . All most kids do now is play video games . Wait til their old enough to come onto ***boat , they'll all be fat . :crossx:

I was thinking the same thing...we used to block off the street and play baseball, hockey, etc...anything we could make up...and when a car came it was "do over Interference" LOL
I never see kids playing outside anymore in any neighborhood...My son will be kicked outside if he doesn't just simply go on his own! LOL

that's crazy...when I was in 8th grade we lived behind the school and I would jump our back yard fence to go to school and then at lunch I'd come home make something to eat and then go back...(however, when I was in 8th grade I also drove a car...guess that's what's different when you grow up in the country. LOL :p
