I'm thinking of have a gear drive installed rather than a timing chain.
Any opinions?
Is it too noisy for confort?
Thanks Mike

Use a timing chain or belt drive only. Belt drives are trick, help a little on power, but I'm not convinced the $ is worth it unless running a race boat.

I have a Pete Jackson gear drive on a big block and kinda wish I never put in on. 1) very noisy!!!!!!!, 2) have heard they have a tendency to break cams, all the vibrations are transferred directly from crank to cam. I have not had a problem yet and spin my motor to 7K but it is a weekend warrior that only has maybe 2 or 300 miles a year put on it. Yes it sounds cool but after 20 minutes of listening to it and not hearing anything else....
