Most of us like to hot rod our stuff or at least know the numbers.
I like to mod my computer & I found this site that tells you how
to optimize your broadband cable connection. I took a before &
after reading. It seems to help. Take the speed test. What did you get?

I tested mine and it was high so I will let it be. I started reading about the tweaks and it lost me really fast. Also, I read what others wrote and it wasnt all that good.....
As a web server admin, I advise everyone to NOT apply the 'Windows 2000 Web Patch' or any other similar HTTP connection tweaks. They cause serious load problems on web servers - normally a client takes 2 connection slots, so a 200 client server can handle 100 simultaneous users no problem. However when this "tweak" is applied, 100 users becomes just 10 users! This is a really nasty tweak that essentially causes a denial of service attack against web servers. Please do not use it. With properly configured RWIN and pipelining, you will get better performance out of 2 single connections since you won't have the overhead of connection setup + teardown.

Yes, reboot for changes to take effect.
............
Wow , some of you really do have "blazingly fast cable".
And others might need a few settings adjusted.
Be careful making changes, I had to read a lot of different sites
information & it took me a few (4) hours before I was comfortable
making any changes.

Your speeds look good, thats good policy.
.........................
Don't feel cheated if your speeds are lower than the high ones posted here.
I was suprized how good they were. I went to the comcast site (my IP) to
see what they offer, they had 2 plans,
6Mbps-384Kbps & 8Mbps-768Kbps
Compare your speed to what your IP offers, if its way low, They might have
the problem.

Hah,
I called up Charter and yelled at them, they booted me up to a 5mb download for $5 less per month.
So now I'm at about 4900 down.
He said once FIOS hits the area, 10MB for the same price.

Some of you have some mighty high numbers,
& a few might need a tune up. I like watching that
tach needle stretching toward a high #.
Heres the links again for improving your speeds.
