Sportscaster Curt Gowdy, Feb. 20
From broadcast booths at the World Series, Super Bowl and Olympics to the lakes where he fished, Curt Gowdy was part of the experience for generations of sports fans. He was their amiable storyteller for 16 All-Star baseball games, numerous Rose Bowls and several NCAA basketball Final Fours, delivering drama and excitement in ear-pleasing tones. On Feb. 20, Gowdy died of leukemia at his winter home in Palm Beach. He was 86.

Former TV news anchor Bill Beutel, March 18
Bill Beutel, the longtime television news anchor and host of the show that became ABC's "Good Morning America," died on March 18. He was 75. Beutel, whose trademark signoff, "Good luck and be well," closed WABC's nightly local newscast for more than 30 years, died at his home in Pinehurst, N.C. The cause of death was not disclosed.

Bill Beutel was the anchor on the Loacal ABC news in NY when I was growing up....along with Roger Grimbsby....
I remember my parents watching it on our only TV and I remember the first thing they said every night was that day's body count from Vietnam... :(
