I have a buddy of mine that has a complete turbo system that he pulled off his 25 Sunsation with a 454Mag motor in it because he sold the boat, and I was kinda curious if it would work on the Sanger which has a 460 Ford in it.
Would this turbo work for a 460 Ford in a jet boat?
Is it a pain in the azz to install and tune a turbo?
Will a 350HP 460 Ford motor handle a turbo without blowing up?
Does a 460 have cast or forged internals?
What would absolutely have to be changed to accomodate a turbo?
Am I asking for trouble?
What do you guys think?

Need more info like turbo manufacture and model numbers, manufacture of the system and what do you want out of the whole deal... The BBF has a 2 bolt main block, cast crank, forged rods and if its a speced marine engine it should have forged pistons. You can [assuming forged pistons] run the engine as-is but you'll be leaving alot on the table if you don't want to get into the engine. A stock type engine will handle 6-8 lbs of boost if its in good shape.

Scott,
Yes it would work but your major cost is manifolds for the application.
It will take some tweaking and some fabricating.
Ford rods and cranks are very stout pices. The Blue Oval Engineers believed in over doing these parts. You would need to check the pistons to see if they are cast or forged.

The D3VE heads would benefit from major exhaust porting, as turbos rely on hot gasses to get those turbines spinning.
The oem cast pistons with D3VE heads will get you about 7.8-8:1 c/r. The c/r ratio is fine for the turbcharging but the pistons will not be fine for long.
Unfortunately the factory forged marine pistons are flat tops and would bring your compression ratio up to about 9.1:1, so your best bet would be the L2404 Speed Pros which will keep c/r the same as the cast dished pistons.
