Family wants a jet ski. I figured i'd get a good used one in the off season. Dont want to spend more than $3500 +/-. What is a good model to look for or not to look for. Dont know if i want a 2 or 3 seater. I'm guessing a two seater is faster and more maneuverable. Any info would be great. Thanks

I had a '96 Sea Doo XP and a '99 Sea Doo GTX limited. Both were ultra reliable and fun.

Why don't you just save some money and buy your family a live grenade instead.

The Sea Doo XP in it's later years ('01,'02 is carbed, '03 & '04 is Fuel Injected) is ultra reliable, quick, nimble & a lot of fun. It can be ridden 2-up but is a better jet-ski for 1 person. Sea Doo's GTX is a great 1, 2 or 3-up machine, '01 - '02 is the older style hull that weighs about 400 lbs less than the current hull & is a much more playfull machine than the newer ones.
Like any water toy, reliability is a function of maintenance & care - look for a low-hour machine that doesn't appear to be abused & comes with maintenance records. Watch out for machines that have had their motors replaced, some of the aftermarket re-build companies do not have a stellar record on re-manufacture with top-quality parts....
