That was quick Jerry. You must have bailed out a little early and got so lucky to miss out on the yardsale on the 5 fwy by Magic Mountain. Stopped the freeway so a Medivac helo could land. Didn't look to good. Car parts spread all over both sides of the freeway.
Anyway a good day of racing. All boats ran hard.

Overall i had an awesome weekend. Saturday sucked as I spent all day working bugs out of the boat and never made a full pass down the track. We finally got the boat straightened out in time for my first run in the 9.0 bracket where i lifted at the lights to run a 9.01 et.
Mike Miller drove by me like i was tied to the starters barge in UBFJ so i was trailered the first round.
I then spent the rest of the day making safety passes and trying hardware changes. Boat is running real wet and there's lots of room for improvement before next march.
Thanks to HBJet and my family for all the help- i couldnt have done it without you guys. And thanks to everyone who stopped by the pit and said hello.

What a fun weekend. Cyclone did a great job with the boat this weekend on its first trip out with the new setup.
Round One in the 9 second bracket Mike ran a 9.01 for the win.
http://www.v-drivevideo.com/jerrysgallery/albums/userpics/10001/DSC00828.JPG
Round Two we had CS19, and in the staging lanes we almost had the pilot episode for "Pinks - The Drag Boat Series" nialed out but decided to settle with some long necks. This was a great run, and CS19 took the win with less then two hundredths of a second difference at the finish line.

Next year should be a good season for the 999 boat. Looking forward to it.

Great job out there Mike + Randy, you guys did a great job with the new boat and its a runner!
Bring it to Firebird for TE, Im sure you can run the number with some small adjustments.
As far as the difference in our bracket pairing, my math shows .233, you have to add your reaction time to your et. :)

jak, no he didn't break out, he actually ran a 10.01. i just kept the nose a couple feet ahead of him after getting a head start  on every other pass, junior started hopping around mid track, so at about half track, i kept waiting for that, but it never happened. he just took it a little easier, and it made a smooth pass, albeit slow for a blown alky capsule boat. junior said he couldn't see me from inside, so wasn't much more he could do.

Congratulations on the Win & Back-To-Back Championships ... Now for The IHBA Championship!
Yeah, Harold et. al. have some bottom Problems yet to be worked out ... Got a pretty good idea of what they are for, as you may remember, we went through a period of being 'The Black Rabbit' ... With what was necessary to solve our problem and knowing Harold's boat's bottom & bottom hardware, I don't think the solution to their problem is all that hard ... They just need to think a little differently is all ... Once they get the bottom worked out it should run like a 'Scalded Cat' ... Low 7's or better with the motor turned up.

thank you jak. actually, i think it's back2back2back2back2back now. not sure how many backs, but 5 in a row feels good. i do want to give kudos to rolf sammons, who pushed it to our final race, and really was on his game all year. there's nothin like one lap to decide the whole season. also, jeff smith was a very tough competitor, and if phil sparks hadn't had to drop out at mid season, he would have been right there at the end too. the competition was very tough in njba this year. now, to firebird to see what else we can do.
harold and junior will get it going eventually. doesn't matter what it's called, they will keep working on it until it's competitive.

Try switching players.. In the upper left hand corner right above the video screen you can switch players, see if that works.

Did Willis break the BGJ record this year
No, but he broke a few burst panels and blower belts :D
At least he finally made it down the track more than once or twice this past race ...
Good luck w/ Gorr Willis ... as I said, it's about time.
Brian
Not as easy as he first thought, might take a few more laps to get the fuel curve correct with the help of Gorr to make a run at the record. If you don't mind me asking, how much boost did he make with the screw versus the roots style supercharger?
Willis, Busby.......Keep up the good work!

On most of these drag boats there's a bar or tube leading from behind the driver up to the scoop. What is it? What's it do?

just pullin' the helmet down a little. jeff said this pic was taken around the finish line, so if that's true, it's after the finish line and i just pulled the helmet down a bit. if it was near the starting line, i was closing the visor all the way.
rolf is looking at me too, it's just a little harder to tell. i know one guy who's head is turned 90 degrees the whole way down the track. there's stuff going on that isn't that obvious to the spectators, and isn't always caught by the camera

At this race i checked the other lane a couple times during one pass to see where the other guy was. Now that the sandbagging rule is gone I've seen a lot of drivers fender racing. :)

if my boat actually went down the track like that two things likely would have occured: it would have ran better than 9.01 or would have gone over backwards.
looking at the video from all my passes my boat was wet as can be. I tried to elevate into the patented "DJD statospheric stance" but alas i didnt have the hardware to make it happen. lol :)

Cyclone your runs looked wet to me but then again you were out with a new set up looked more like you were trying to be safe and get the feel for it.Right thing to do IMO.good to see you got into low 9s.And i am sure you will get quicker when the time is right also good to see your crew chief again.
cs19 saw the njba results looked like your best outing this year low 9s on motor decent lights and consistency.Looks like phx you might need a lil nos but you will have a full day to work with that and if you need a fill well you know our low budget moho has a fill station.Lights are the important part you will have to step up a tad but shouldnt be prob CONSISTENCY IS KEY.
Anyone else want a review just ask.LOL

Robert, I was slowing it down to run the 9 sec. class at njba...I ran an 8.90 on the motor at the season opener over in Phoenix in not so ggod air, hopefully I can back that up at the world finals, if not Ill run the bottle,I'll be prepared to do that. The boat can run the number over there one way or another.
As far as lights Ive cut consistant .0's and .1s at Phoenix with no trouble, I find their tree to be much easier. Thanks for the invite to the refill station, If Im squeezing I will take you up on that...How much per lb.? 5 bucks? LOL
Looking forward to this one, see you soon.

Hello People Just wanted to say that it was a great season.
Had my share of set backs, but that’s why they call it a learning curve.
Some times they are sharp turn in the learning curve you need to watch out for.
Brian,
That’s for the help at the track.
Gorr had the answer for that fuel problem.
