from my maiden voyage this weekend. I decided to put them in my own thread...anyhow:
The ride over was very smooth and yes it was very foggy. We left about 9:15A from our meeting spot outside the smokestacks. At least that is where I would guess we were...lol

Ya, it was cold at first. That was the only beer I had while underway. The girls made me do it sort of like a champagne bottle accross the bow. Didn't even finish it. For some reason I feel the "need" to point that out.

Ya, I heard about your motor. Hope it is something minor.
The ride back was a lot of fun. I would run it up to 65 then slow down and drop back behind Havasu Luvr. Teresa was standing up right by me and telling me to go faster....lol We got air quite a few times and the boat handled it very well. I don't know if I really want to go in much larger water than that though. It was that washing machine type of water. If it was all coming at you one way it would have been a nicer ride. With the fog in the AM it made it hard to really enjoy the ride. Would have been nice to look out and see something besides fog.

You can always strip down Mike but if you don't have it to begin with you are miserable. Made my trip over comfortable.
Havasu Luvr had his GPS and we just hung off his wing. No problem at all. We were going to follow Frenchie and he took off on us :(. I was between him and HL and wanted to be able to keep HL and Frenchie in my sights. Lost Frenchie right away. I had a handheld but it does not have any mapping software.
By the way...I used slightly more than a 1/4 tank of gas. I thought we would use more than that. I had it topped off, 6 people and hit about 65MPH. I can get 70 with less gas on board.

Yes....At one point I stopped to ask HL if he was sure where he was going. He said he did and oh by the way...."We are sitting in a shipping lane" :2purples: HL and us ran about 25-30 MPH thru the fog. Slow easy pace as the fog was very thick. I felt very comfortable following along with HL (David).
I guess Frenchie ran up on somebody sitting out there on their boat. Saw the guy at the last minute.

When I was a kid, I made the run with my pops on a Boston Whaler. We used a car radar detector to look for the big ships. It would go off when it was "painted" by their radar. An AM radio was the GPS of the day. Point the antenna toward the strongest signal. Of course, we had a compass too, LOL. I'm thinking we were crazy now but at the time, it sure was fun.

I think those slings are mostly limited to 25 feet or less as far as length.

We thought we would hear all the boats take off though. The fog wasn't in long beach but the further south we went the thicker it got

Ah Mel.....I am going over Saturday again. I brought my boat back as I found an inside storage place in Riverside off 14th. This way the boat is close by for some runs.

When we got by the smokestacks...I assume that's where we were...lol, we couldn't see anything. There were only 3 boats in our group from NB. Plus we were going slow because of the visability. I actually had to drive with no glasses on as they were just getting wet.

Can you get up early biach or will you still be awake....lol You go over early and come back mid-afternoon. The real ticket is to go over and stay the night and come back after a morning brunch on Sunday though. That way you should get smooth water going and coming back and you can party on the island. One thing that was obvious to me is the old guys on the island are kind of perverted. They bugged the girls a few times.

DAVE you know i always bring class A material....you should have seen her flash the queen mary when we went back and up to lbc!!!! lol...it was great and to think she is goin to be at my Halloween party and stayin gthe night!! hmmm
anyway yea it was foggy as hell goin over...i went no faster than about 35-40 mph for the first 17 miles as visiblity was about 4 boat lenghts!! we almost went head on in to about a 40 ft three deck bayliner older boat...they were comiin back this way about 15 miles out and i was doin like 30mph saw a dudde last miniute scared shitmless.....sitting on its bow with a life verst on..and yelling at us!!...i hung it right an djust made it around him....ride back was great...hit 78.2 pmh with my five on board and a full tank.....2-4 ft swells...when finally back at newport i got pulled over itn the harbor
for noise violation....he tested it and for some reason only gave me a warning!!! told me to get s-pipes and let me go!!!.....couldnt get my right motor to start so idoled back to back bay on one motor...after being really worried SHOCKWAVE...looked at it today and afteer an hour found it was just a loose wire on the fow-rev-neatr shifter!!!...ill also be goin back out in about two weeks......fun runnniin with iyou Dilligaf...and HL!!!! out.... :cool:

We'll be out this weekend for sure again. Didn't see any of you all but was cruising the harbor trying to get hours on the new engines! We'll be out from Friday on, staying at the Balboa Bay Club hanging on the patio! Just be careful on the noise around there because they already called me in twice! I don't think I fit in too well. But I did ask them to park my diesel truck up front next to the Bentleys and shiat! WTF? At least the valet and crew that works there are cool! :crossx:

LOL...My exhaust is below the water line so I am OK. The music is another thing :) I kept it down within the harbor though. No need to piss any "bluebloods" off
