Have you tried formatting the memory card? It may just be it has corrupt files on it, or the card is dead. Maybe try a new/different card.

If its an SD card ,check to see that its not locked. The tab on the side sometimes will lock when you insert the card. Try a new one.

Yes, try the card. My sony has done this with 1 out of the 3 memory sticks we have for it. The stick went bad but the camera was fine.
Bad part was that it was the 128Meg stick instead of one of the two 16Meg sticks.

If it's an Olympus it may be the card door.
The card door has a deadman micro switch that eventually goes bad, won't tell the camera the door is shut.
Mine died this weekend

Try an outside card reader instead of the camera, maybe you get lucky.

If you have a Canon -that is a common error and they will fix it for FREE, just check their website for info! I have a S400 or somthin' and had the same error. Gave them a call and was shipped a box to send it back to them, had her back in a week and it was perfect. Hope it's a Canon.
