Try getting the patch, they really help. I am a dental hygienist and have diagnosed oral cancer in a smoker. Not a nice thing to go through. Good luck and hang in there!!! :)

6 years ago my oldest daughter, 10 then, asked me why I smoked? I did not have a good answer so I quit cold turkey. Never had another one and I don't miss it at all!!!!!!!!!!!

Day 21 here, after smoking for 20 years. In the truck was real hard with the kids. I would light up and they would begin their fake coughing. I knew they didn't like it and it wasn't good for them. They are 6 and 9. So I would toss it out the window and wait until I got home. The wife doesn't bitch anymore either. She hates the smell and wants me to live longer. I think she likes me. Anyhow, the first 4 days were the toughest. Cold turkey. I literally felt like I was drunk when I was driving. My body was going through shock. I'm all good now. The ability to smell everything is coming around, feeling better, no more coughing because of smoke, but for some reason there was a couple of days where I would cough, but it didn't have the rough smokey flegm to it. Kinda cool actually. But I have to be honest here, I'm not sneaking, but I get to enjoy one every now and then. Its an agreement my wife and I have. Knowing that smoking and drinking go hand in hand (for alot of smokers) if we are out, I'll ask her if I deserve one. She'll give me the ok, and I get to enjoy. Most people would slip back into smoking, but I'm now at the point when I wake up the next day, I have no desire to light up, even if I smoke a pack. I think I've bought 3 packs since the 1st, and I have a full one around here somewhere. I'm doing pretty good, but not perfect. You can do it Hooli. I've tried many many times in the past. Only to find an excuse to start again. This time its different. My Dad died from cancer at 59, 2 months ago, I want to be here for my kids longer than that. Thats my motivation.

Good for you! Whatever you do, however bad the withdrawals and torture are, just tell yourself that this is the LAST time you are going to put yourself through this. If you start again, you will have to quit again, and go through it all over again, so make this the last time!!!!
