I am thinking of putting my Stainless Marine Ex. system from my 502 on my new V-Drive and would like some input on this. Do logs have the same perfromance as an aftermarket system like mine?

All I can tell you is I have had a set of Logs on my Stevens for about five years. Last fall I got a old set of Eagle headers. I stuck them on just to see if they made any difference.I was shocked at the difference. It turned about 4-500 more rpms.

Super V, make sure you have the stepdown cut off on your log/risers before you're doing a comparison to the headers. There's 1/2 " increase in dia to gain with the steps cut off. You'll probably gain rpm's with the header, but I would only replace the logs if the rpm increase is significant.

If so then I will have to change the tube and the tips right? If I go with the headers I will also have to make this change. frown

Put those headers on. It will be a pain in the ass to do but once it's done you will be glad you did it.

I too am thinkin headers are the way to go here.
Myself, I would go headers if there was only the remote chance for rpm and performance gains. You just don't get the same tones from logs. Besides headers have testoserone built in!!! My.02 cents.

I think the headers are the way to go. with the motor you have I'm sure you will be looking at makeing more horse power. The headers will let you do that. Will your headers fit the new boat and still be able to use the existing holes. Most headers for a v-drive has a radical bend where the headers meet the collecter, My do. Can you show a picture of your headers .

Josh, It doesn't look like the basett headers are water jacketed so you couldn't run a motor cover. I can't tell about the other two. Most v-drive holes a cut in real close to the cav. plate. Are yours? I will send you a picture of my headers to your e-mail

Those headers in the bottom pic are CMI's. CMI makes very nice headers. The new ones have cool collers on them and are less prone to cracking. I can't tell if those do or not.
I bet those headers and tailpipes in that pic cost over 4K new.

I think Dans66stevens bought some CMI headers. Was he able to convert them to fit his Cruiser.

I have a set of Stellings. They are Stainless Steel. I have not done anything with them except to polish them.
