Between my last kid being born and being a little slow at work , I had 3 months off and I must have put on 20 lbs. and I think that was more tragic than anything else. So much for my sexy figure.

I would love to have a a women support me... I could spend all my time wood working...The house would be filled up with custom furniture.

My wife's an elementary school teacher.. she's on the train to work by 6:30 am, and usually home by 6:00 pm... unless some Darwin Award winner walks on the tracks, then she'll be late as they scrub off the Metrolink with bleach.... :skull:

Mine works full time in a children's hospital. Her job provides our excellent medical bennies. Our youngest is 20 so we don't have to worry about taking care of kids, lol.

I'll be getting my son out of school at lunchtime to go with me to pick up the new Rhino then off to play in it. I quit 2 years ago and never looked back. You just have to have enough interests to keep you busy and happy. For me and where we live that is not a problem.
I look at friends who drop their 6 year old off at KinderCare at 6:30 am, Kindercare busses the kid to Kindergarten at 9AM then KinderCare picks the kid up at 4PM where he stays at KinderCare until 5:30. Not much of a decision if you ask me if you are lucky enough to afford it.

We are different as we have kids. The wife is just now starting back on a part time basis as the kids are both in school all day. She is a Physical Therapist and makes really good $ per hour but no benefits as her week is only 20hrs. Best thing to do is after the kids are in school or gone and you get the wife back to work is don't change your spending and have hers all direct deposited into the investment account.

Wife is a Certified Medical Coder. Federal Job (GS-8) with all the bennies. 8-5 M-F. Hospital is 1/2 mile from the house.
She worked in private practice for 13 years as a Medical Office Manager. 2/3 the pay. 10+ hours a day, no OT pay, and had to deal with an overbearing demanding Doctor. 'Bout drove her crazy.
Now she's back to being a happy, healthy, stress free little wifey.
Oh yeah. Kids are grown and out, but she did stay home with them until they were both in school.

Not yet, anyway.
That comes in a few years when I retire and my Military retirement kicks in at the same time.
Public Safety Retirement
Military Retirement
Social Security
Wife's Federal Retirement
Investment income.
We'll be making more retired than we are working.
As it should be. :D

my wife was working when we meet,we had first kid and her pay check coverd day care and some left over, had 2nd kid and day care got more expensive you got my drift, made her change shifts at albertsons to nights and i started watching kids while she worked, that lasted 2 weeks i gave her a pay check from my company to stay home. It was cheaper for her to stay home and damn kids are a lot of work, but i don`t tell her that.We have three now ages 12,6 and 5 I said this year now that the kids are old enough to go to school you can go back to work, ya right she said shes going to retirer at age 37. She will never go back now plus she does work a couple hrs a week in the kids classes and i do believe that is priceless in todays society.

we have two kids 11 and 6, the wife stayed home till just this month. The youngest finally started 1st grade and full time school so she works part time at the school where the kids go, gonna dpy on them all the way through high school. took a while to get in, but it all worked out. The pay isn't much but it has not been easy with one income in Califonication.

Wife worked for 8 years, but finally at 29 i made enough money to have her stay home with the kids and still have a "comfortable" but in no way "baller" lifestyle. She made good money...but it wasnt worth the hectic schedule and the family being apart all the time.

Wife stays home with 7 month old. Wouldn't have it any other way, even though she made good money. Why have kids if you are going to pay someone to raise them? We definitely had to cut back on our spending, but it is worth it to us.

Well…..
My wife stays home and takes care of the family.....
Best decision WE ever made.....
We both decided on it a full year before we had our first child…..
That gave us time to adjust for the lost income…..
At first, it wasn’t easy giving up that income, especially living here in SoCal, but we learned that we just pissed most of her money away on crap…..
Our kids are 8 & 6.......Between school drop off’s & pick-up’s, home work, hockey, dance & gymnastics, the gym & dinner, she’s got a full day/week…….
She is also able to work in our kids classrooms one day a week….She alternates weeks so that she can be in both kids rooms at least twice a month…..It REALLY helps to see EXACTLY what’s going on and where they need help…..
Then you have the rest of the tasks…….
Birthday parties for kid’s friends, shopping, laundry, getting me ready to travel for business….yada-yada-yada……and then the most important…..
Getting us ready for Havasu weekends…..
But again, the most important thing……She is at home with our kids…….
The MOST IMPORTANT thing’s in our lives….
They are not learning some day care workers values……
It may be a bit old school, but I just don’t understand how a mother could drop her few month to few year old kid off to someone else for 8+ hours a day when the most important job is that child…..
I know that quite a few women HAVE to work, maybe being a single parent and such, but working so you can have more money to buy more things……at your kid’s expense…..How short sighted is that ????
I just don’t get it……
Later,
CJG

I agree totally.
My Wife gave up a really good job to take care of our first Child. It was tough in the beginning, but that made me work that much harder.
Now that we have Kids 12,10,6, my Wife is now going back to School to become a Teacher, which is about a third of what she could be making, and I (we) couldn't be happier! My Wife will be there at School to help my Kids and many others and I couldn't be more proud of her.

You don't have a wife.....either.....this week....right? Wait a minute...you've had wives that could, uh, do stuff....so I've heard.....whatever.....:D :D
My wife is 'retired' from working. Had a great sales job for 12 yrs, got burned out on it and turned it all over to one of my employees' wife. She's going great guns herself and thanks Wifey all the time for the cherry deal.
Now I work twice as hard to make up for it.
Wouldn't trade back for it tho. Too many advantages to her being home with the flexibility to do what she wants to (and what I need done from time to time that I can't get done myself....see comment above about working twice as hard). Does a little web/home based cruise travel agent stuff, since she loves dreaming about going places in a boat that's a bit bigger than the Raysoncraft.

I was Mr. Mom for a while but went back to work.
She quit her sales job and got a job at the daycare where the little one goes. She doesn't make as much but it's a good setup because we get a decent discount and she can look in on him when she wants to.
...now if I can just get her to cook life will be good.
