A lot of people arent even going to the "Hot Boat" portion of these forums because of all of the XXX Spam. How is it getting in here?
Thanks
Gary

Don't they verify with an e-mail? Shit like that pisses me off.

No.
Because free emails are a dime a dozen and it doesn't stop them. It also then requires a person on staff to daily handle all new member activations. This is what I was told when I asked the same question. So we just keep deleting it.

There is many spam solutions for vBulletin...
and not requiring a correct email address for activation would solve a lot of your problems....And i assume why is not due to admins having to approve them, its because the email system on this forum just doesnt work. I dont get any email notifications on post replys or PM's.

I used to let my son sit with me while on the boards. Now I have to make sure he's not around. It sucks because he is a true "Hot Boater".

I am sure this could be fixed if enough people complained.
I sure do enjoy coming to this web site.
And i will continue to do so, but it is very disappointing.
Why is it only in the Hot Boat section?
I may have missed it elsewhere, but seems to be here almost daily now.
Someone always trying to make a buck.
No shame.

This can be automated, also you can deny certain domains such as hotmail, Yahoo or gmail.

Problem with that thinking is that many legitimate people use one of the "free" emails. My DSL service is through Yahoo, and certain moderators that I know also use Yahoo as their primary email address.

My suggestion is that if you guys are so upset about it you need to contact admin. There is nothing the moderators can do about it. If admin has a solution perhaps it could be implemented.
And as far as Yahoo, Hotmail, etc. email addresses being blocked, as Barry said many use these emails as their primaries, including myself. So it's not a viable solution.
