did the co pilot sleep through that race? the water was so flat. the shot of that white boat was sick as hel* there was like 1 1/2 ft of boat touchin the water.

haha Youre right, parts of it are not that technical however those smooth lake sections were run at well over 100.
I believe the signifigance of the side by side racing is that the other boat had been involved in a collision at the mass start and had a huge gaping hole ripped in the side of the boat. Watch the video again and you can clearly see the hole. The crew was not certain if the boat would float if they stopped so they did not get offstep untill the boat was nearly on the trailer. The roll bar was bent and the navigators seat torn from the impact of the other hull. :O
Very impressive to be able to get footage of that during an actual race. Dale let that boat win the leg as he was signifigantly ahead overall at that stage and was basically "uncatchable"

wouldnt it have been a better video without any music at all? sounds of the engine is what ought to be heard. boats make music of their own.

In many cases I agree Richard however I was working with very limited footage and ALL rollbar cam stuff. It did not have a very good mic on it AND it was stuffed inside the camera bag. With all the breaks I had to use in the clips the sound just didn't do it justice Thus the music track only.
Practice was on the lower Red Deer river 5 mins from where I live, and Dale as well. The txt doesn't show well in that low res version. ALl the remaining footage was somewhere in Mexico and Im not about to try to spell where! The ocean circuit race was nuts from what i hear and was even rougher than it looks.
Glad you guys liked it
Cheers
p.s. Mike Im a huge Rush fan but have yet to find any video that feels right with any of their songs. maybe on my next DVD....

Some of those bodies of water are pretty awesome. I would never have thought of taking my boat to Mexico to play. Cool vid too. I say keep the music if the motor sounds aren't up to par.

Great video Xero. Your getting really good at editing. Really nice scene changes synched with the music. How long does it take you to put one of these together?

WAY TOOOO LOOONG
lol
its alot more work than you think. takes a ton of time, TONS of computer memory and a huge amount of patience. You also need an unreal amount of raw footage to prevent things from getting boring. I barely had enough for this one. Thats 8 mins of video from over 5 hrs of raw footage!
I will say tho its very very rewarding to see people get off from it. Vids like this always got me excited about stuff

Hey got some pics in of the boys and the goods. thought you guys may like to have a look. Official times are in but the lenght of the course is a bit uncertain but it appears Dale averaged about 93 MPH for the 1000+ kms which is pretty darn good if you ask me!
Way to go guys!
