Per Caltrans District 11 website, the closure will now begin on Jan 3 for approximately 8 weeks for a bridge widening. I think we all know which bridge that is, too.
The closure is on SR-78 from scissors crossing, (S-2) easterly to Yaqui Pass Road (S-3) near the bottom of the hill. Detour is thru Borrego Springs, S-22 to the S-3.
Caltrans District 11 website has a notice in pdf format. If someone knows how to extract that and post it here, please do.
