How much longer before it is done? Are they going to put it in the LA boat show? Tell Shauntee I still have her bowls and so forth from that BBQ. They are off tot he side for her.
Should be done mid Jan. Yeah, they are going to have it at the show. I'll be taking it home when the show is done and break in it in so I can be ready for SPRING BREAK. I'll tell Shauntee. We were up there last weekend but just worked on the garage. We got a lot done but still didn't finish...

It was just a joke because Kilr always tries to tell everybody about insurance.
Are we doing a big stereo in it? Jeff does pretty good work.
I know, I catch his comments on the new cat owners :) yeah, going big with the system. Jeff gave me all the recomendations and I went with it. Can't wait till it's done.

I know. I just went with the way the contractors had started it. They were required to have the man door fire walled. This is how they did it...

I'm just messing with ya but that is technically the wrong way
and if that is a fire wall its not right ether it needs to be taped to complete the assembly

:) I did the drywall in my garage at home and did it the right way. Really about the fire wall? Is that standard or maybe a CA code? I know the inspector was out and had them change a few things before he ok'd everything.

well in Cali you need a one hr wall between the garage and living aria
and for it to be one hr it needs to be taped and the nails covered with mud

if its a type 5 building or depending on the city and use all the wals are to be sheet rocked to maintain a 1hour rating, witch is obtainable by having one layer of 5/8ths drywall on one side and it must be fire taped as well , and no screws are to pennertrate the skin of the rock as well

you do screw the rock your just not suposed to break the paper and burry the screw head soo not a stupid question! ive seen inspectors fail jobs due to to many screw heads being to deep.. :rollside:

I just did my garage but I used 12 ft sheets.
What is wrong with the joints being vertical instead of horizontal?
The only problem I saw with their installation was that the full sheet should have been tight against the cieling. Also the cieling should have been done first.

when all the joints are vert it will cast a shadow of lines as iff the walls are bowed out at each joint , other than that its easier to tape , especialy if yoiu are going to texture the walls after ,

in the code books they did away with sheet rock having any sheer value, soo it realy does not matter witch way you hang it as long as in the end it looks good :boxed:

Nothing wrong, just might not be as visually appealing. When you look down a wall with the drywall hung vertical like you have it, you just see much more taped joints which will make the wall look wavier than if the drywall was hung horizontally.
It is a garage, not a piece of art. Use it, and use it well. Good job.

Where are the H2.5's on the studs? Did you already pass framing inspection without them? That would be my only concern, the drywall is not being laid the conventional way but who cares as long as the end result is the same. Usually you do the top and bottom and come back and fill in the middle, after the lid of course. Then you can use bigger sheets too.
Back to the new ride. What will that boat run with 496's? Nice boat, congrats.

Thanks. I was in one for a test drive with the same motors and did 102 mph. I'm thinking mid 90's with the open bow.
