They are saying that people don't invest in the stock market, it's cars now, the only thing that hold value???

Yeah but did you see the 56 & 57 red T-birds and the Falcon going for 120,000 to 135,000.I'm suprised I didn't see any cobras on the block. Some of them have gone for over 1.5 mil.

There were several Cobras, but they didn't seem to draw the interest this time. Over 100K, but nothing remarkable. 52 Chrysler concept deal was 1M or more, 52 Ford concept was up there as well...........But the 4.1M 1950 GM bus stole the show..........MP

Heres another way to look at $4 mil
To have 4 mil at the end of 1 year of work( saving every thing, no taxs) you would have to make $2000 a hr
8hr/day 5 day/week 50 weeks/year
GD WHERE DO THEY GET THE MONEY?
Lets not forget that you have to pay7 or 8% above what you bid...

Someone told me tonight that Barrett-Jackson gets 8% from the seller and 8% from the buyer? 4 mil = $640,000. Seems a little high but if you got that kind of money whats another 8%, especially when you are expecting $600,000 and you get 4+ million from your sale. Don't we all wish we would have held on to our factory hot rods?

Yup B-J geta a % from buyer and seller..... At least the buyer doesn't have to pay sales tax if they hire an auto carrier serice to haul it out of state. Sales tax on 4 mil........ yikes.

That futurestic(sp) bus (for the 1950s) was kinda cool I guess, kinda looked like a locomotive, I didn't see any windows in the back, but 4.1M!! Jesus, you could've bought about 1/2 the cars at the auction for that much money and had a bad ass ride for everyday of the summer, 4.1M for a BUS, I guess thats why I wasn't blessed with unlimited funds..............MP

While those rich fags are showing off at the auction, they are driving the price of hot rods up so far that the regular guys wont be able to afford them anymore.I want an old corvette, you can hardly touch one for under 60 grand at a garage sale.

DOOOOOHHHHH I missed the Falcon  (when was it on, so I can catch the re-run) it must have been a 64/65 AFX Falcon to pull that kinda of price, and yea I am going to go spend some money on polish, Armor All and wax today :)
it's amazing what the muscle car era cars are bringing in, who ever would have thought cars would be a better investment than Real Estate.
I really liked the yellow cuda with the Viper conversion, I thought that was very cool :)

Over the last nine years, muscle cars have had the highest return on the investment.

..there is a buyer and seller fee attached, and I think it is higher than 8%...but think of that $4 mil, the seller was hoping for $600k and got like $3.5mil more than he expected...I'm sure he will have no problem with paying that comission :)

Yep, buyer pays 8% and seller does the same!!! Buyer also pays sales tax either in Scotssdale (8%) or back in their home state when it rolls off the truck.
Based on the people I saw at the auction money is not a problem .Consider this. They were running out of room at the Scottsdale Airpark for all the private jets this weekend!!! I thought it was cool to see people in jeans and t-shirts pounding down a few brews and bidding in the 6-7 figure range. Wonder how they made their dough?

yeah its weird the way that works out.. the upgrade cars with better brakes and all the bells and whistles but its not original so they go for 40k instead of 80k..

WOW!!!! what a show, in the closing statements Craig Jackson stated that he had $97m in gross sales (on the auction block) and that did not include the sales that happened off the auction block.
add in entry fees and spectator tickets and so on I think B-J probably did more like $200m in gross sales and my GUESS!!! is some where in the neighborhood of $50m NET, for the 4 day show.
The good thing I saw, AS ALWAYS!!!! car people were coughing it up for Charity  :)
next year I am going window shopping

jbb, noticed the same thing about the prices, a lot of car guys, left a lot of money on the table, especially the 32 rod with turbos (cost $450K sold for 100), not as bad as boats, worse than diamonds. Gotta get back to the SeaHawks game...

Just got back and it is out of control. West World facility has been upgraded very nicely but car prices are unreal. Forget flipping houses buy muscle cars. The big suprise of the year to me was small block corvettes going for a mint. It has become a huge social event with more and more non car people with deep pockets. Lots of cougars trolling for suger daddy. Went to RM and Russo and Steele actions also both a welcome break from Barrett. I think I will buy a plain jane Camaro restore it to Yenko spec, avdertise it as a clone and double my money. It is like a WWE wrestling show in a Vegas casino, lots of hipe and theatrics with some shady stuff going on that the general public has no idea about. If you have any doubt about our economy this event will squash them. I think every SS nova every produced was in Scottsdale this week.

Yah, you have to watch out for those convertable cars that are not really convertables.Almost got me on a 1958 chevy convertable Impala about 2 months ago.Luckly I know my cars, but for someone who doesnt they probably got stuck with a fake convertable and the owners acts like he didnt know.YAH RIGHT.LOOSERS

Do not conunt that 4 Million Dereamliner bid as a done deal yet. Late word is their may have been a shill bidder. The word is the bidder (a straight up guy) learned of this, confronted Craig Jackson, and it got heated. So this "sale" may be off to the attorneys.
2. The most expensive car mass produced sold.. a 1970 hemi Cuda Convertable. the buyer is Weiman, form Scottsdale. he owns a stable of high end Mopars, and another convertable. If u think of it, he has to keep these prices high by purchasing one at this price, if not his collection would devaluate accondingly.
this high end stuff is real interesting to watch.
