I know a Police Officer who has dual citenship as he was born in South Africa. The fact that, in the tradition of self effacing humor, many people make use of slurs directed at their own group, does not give blanket permission for all to use those terms. I understand that our constitution grants us all free speech and that there is no constitutional right not to be offended. However, common sense and simple courtesy should make it so no one ever has to explain why he or she does not like to read that word here. It's not political correctness, it's a matter of simple courtesy and class.

I am happy to see that Fox has cancelled the book and the interview and apologize to the world for considering it. I saw O'Reilly and Rivera protesting it this morning. When your own stars and stations tell you to fly a kite, its time to listen.
As for the other topic, as long as it is acceptable for a black to call me a cracker and I am not allowed to call him n****er, the entire race can take a hike. The only way we can get along is to stop taking stupid names as excuses to hate. You do not want to be called, n***er, stop calling each other that or be indulgent to all those who use it. Considerate people do not call strangers names. If they do so, they are angry, stupid, racist or any combination. Getting mad at them only makes you their equal. I see more segregation now than I did in the sixties. And it is self imposed. Too many young people want to have their own little cliques and will not associate with anyone else. It leads to less communication of ideas and stinted social acceptance.
