Very serious offense. If he was only booked for this offense, don't be suprised if the DA files other charges. Depending on what the allegations are, the DA can break down each incident into multiple "acts" and start charging each individual act. The charges add up very fast.

a friend of mine was just booked with a felony PC288.5(A) was curious what this is. last thing this man needs is legal problems. as his son was just killed 1 month ago i a motorcycle wreck
how could a person be booked for a crime such as this without knowing what it is?

He knows. He's just too embarrassed to admit it to anyone he knows.

IF the allegations prove out to be true, (note that I do not convict on an accusation) then EXACTLY WHAT HE NEEDS is "legal troubles", because what he has done is very far out into wrong-land.

Extrordinarly dangerous ground here! I have a friend who was convicted of this in a multiple count knda thing, each count carries like 10 years and when convicted of over 3 counts of the same felony there's something like habitual criminal that adds 10. Knowing the man like I do I'm still certain my friend is innocent, it's a long story but if you get accused of this crime they don't have to prove you did it near as much as you have to prove you didn't! In the instance of my friend, the fact that his ex wife had her first husband put in jail on spousal abuse charges to divorce him was irrelivant. Get your spouse thrown in jail, then hell with 1/2 you take it all.
