Long. My truck is an 01 purchased in April of 01 and the stock battery finally took a shit. Guess 5 1/2 years is pretty good for a stock battery.

I thought batteries lasted longer in the warm weather.
Up here, a battery that seems fine in summer can be worthless in the winter. It's rare to get more than 5 years out of a an OE battery up here but my Optima red top was installed in 1998 and continues to be an excellent battery.

I wish they lasted longer. So now I not only have to install a new water pump (the gasket is leaking, but since I am going to have to take it out, might as well replace the water pump) but I have to get a new battery. When it rains, it pours.

I replaced the original batteries in my '97 F-350 PSD this past spring.
They were not bad, but I figured it was time. After looking at all the options, I went to the Ford dealer and got two more Motocrafts. At eighty bucks a pop, they're hard to beat.

Chevy or Ford? Those AC Delcos are known to leak and put a hole in the washer bottle. I had to replace my battery w/ a Optima, and my bottle.

Chevy, guess I should be glad then, cause it has not done any damage to the washer bottle. Wish my coolant wasn't leaking though, I figured it would last longer than 49k miles.

I have never had a factory OE battery last that long. Seems most I have had only lasted a year or so. When they die I replace them with Optimas.

I know, I thought it was good that it lasted that long. I am not going to go with the Optima, too expensive $169.00 and I don't think I will have this truck another 3 years, who knows.

Agree, Optimas are rather expensive. Have also had good luck with Interstate Batteries.

So what should I set my torque wrench to when putting it back together?

I thought so, but just trying to play it safe, first one I have done on a Chevy truck.
