Looking for someone on the forums who has run the Pro-Comp Ultimate silver guages.
Can you see them in sunlite?
Do they reflect to much?
SS126, I noticed in Long Beach a few the SS guys were running the silver guages, Any feedback?

Sale is on white and black Pro comp only. We do also carry the silver (ultralite) but not on sale currently. We're working on the gauge section of the new catalog as I write this...should be online this coming week on all the Auto Meter stuff including Pro Comp white, black, standard, Ultralite, & Carbon Fiber.

Hfpower, I had my boost guage fade. Autometer replaced it with the explanation that all new parts had a new paint type. That was two years ago no problems since.

Those be the one's. 2-5/8" Liquid filled Mechanical. :D I am going to run down to Summit today (About 3 miles from my house) & take a look at the tach's.
The boat is coming along nicely. New fuel tank should arrive next week. I've got a couple of more brackets to fabricate, then its time to start stripping the hull.
Can't wait to get it in the water.

Here's the story on the fading. Back in about 1997 we discovered that many of the Pro Comp gauges we were selling were coming back with faded pointers. Auto Meter was very good on the warranty but it was a continual problem. Finally in about 1999 or so they made an upgrade on the type of paint they use on the pointers to one with a higher level of UV resistance (also slightly darker orange). They converted all of our inventory at that time (another + for AM). Bottom line, no more fading after that...
Fast forward to early 2001. The management at Auto Meter decides on the White Pro Comp, that it needs it's "own identity", separate from automotive division. This is a long story in itself but it involved some disagreement between Auto Meters 2 divisions, OEM-Marine, and Hi Performance. 2 seperate factories in 2 seperate states with the same corp ownership. Anyway the result of all this was a new White "Marine" version of the Pro-Comp. It has some upgraded internals (for anti corrosion) and a "red" pointer instead of orange, otherwise functionally identical. Also available in 2" as well as 2 5/8. Because of the face mod. and the new red pointer color, it doesn't match any of the older white Pro Comp product. All the above refers to "white" only.
Fast forward again to present... The White Pro Comp we have on sale is the remainder of the older "pre-marine" white inventory. Pointers are dark orange UV resistant. We now carry the complete line of the new "White Marine Pro Comp" with the red pointers.
Now to answer your question. All the Auto Meter pointers now made whether orange or red are UV resistant to fade. Not to be confused with "fade proof". If you leave your boat in the sun 24-7-365 they will fade...along with your gelcoat or paint, uhpolstery, and everything else that the sun will hammer over time.
Presently the only "Marine" designated product is the Pro Comp White. The regular Pro Comp silver and black, Ultra-Lite, Pro-Comp silver, Carbon Fiber are not designated as "Marine". All these automotive lines now have fade resistant pointers however and are widely used in high performance marine applications. As stated above, they are "fade-resistant" paint, not "fade-proof".
I know that's a long explanation to a relatively simple question but that's the way it all transpired. Rex Marine is a "complete" automotive and Marine Auto Meter WD and our pricing on all the automotive product should be competitive with the Summits and Jegs, etc. Hope that helps.
