Anybody running EMI Thunder exaust? I Need to know the best way to fix them so I can preheat water Without having to replace riser gaskets at least once or twice a year.

Anybody ever weld the water passages shut so you don't have to worry about there junk ass gaskets going out? Mine have the 4 oval sots in the gasket and I want to go with the solid gasket so i can plumb my boat for preheating the water. But there solid gaskets don't last that long. So ant Ideas guys?? It looks like this now.

I'm running mine with the solid gaskets and pre heating the water before it enters the block. Knock on wood, but I haven't had any problems with the gaskets.

Do you have any pics of your exhaust? Are you running a jet also? Thanks for your help.

You're welcome. I'll look for some pics. I'm running a 502 Chevy with Berkeley jet.

THAT'S WHAT I'M TALING ABOUT!!! Thank-you for the pics! That helps me alot! On wanna run mine the same way. So you have the solid gaskets right? No problems with them. How long you been runnin them? What's your temp run at and what rpms? Do you run a gate valve or ball valve some call them. Do you have a water regulator pressure bypass valve? I think that's that guage in the pic? If so what kind? Could you get some pics of the front of your engine? Am I full of questions or what! LOL. I'm eager to learn and get this done. I've got some buddies in Mich. helping me out alot to lol. I must be from Missouri in my past life. Ya know the SHOW ME STATE. LOL. Thanks again. 4trax.

No problem. I have the solid gaskets between the riser and manifold. I had to remove the risers when I rebuilt the motor, so the gaskets are new. However, the old gaskets were a couple years old. I have the Rex marine thermostat so my running temp is between 160 and 190. I'm not running a bypass valve or regulator. You are correct about the gauge. It reads water pressure. The pressure only gets to 15 psi at full throttle. I purchased it from McMaster-Carr several years ago. I made the fitting myself. I don't have any pictures of the front of the motor. I would take some for you, but the back seat is so close to the motor I can't get a good view with the camera. My boat is plumbed as follows:
Cold water from the jet into the bottom of the manfold. Pre heated water out the side of the manifold to the front of the block. Water from the block out the thermostat housing to the risers. Water mixes with the exhaust after the risers and exits through the transom.
Keep the questions coming.
