Just hit the water in October. She is hitting 80mph with only a merc 525. Lee Spindler raised the x dimension to lighten her up. We are still playing with propellers. We rigged the engine compartment in birdseye maple, Stan at Schiada did an amazing job.

Yes we were testing a couple of props, had a great time skiing. The water was awesom. Tried to sneek and got pulled over. They had us on radar. Lifeguard boat let us off with a warning. Were you also out there?

Thanks. The extension box and steering works really well. We were out in havasu in 30 to 40mph winds. It was very impressive, it was very comfortable at 45 to 50mph. Could not believe how stable she was, no problem. There was nobody out there to play with, everyone decided to stay in the channel. It is so nice to be able to enjoy the lake when it is blown out, my previous boat was a schiada 20 vdrive, I have always wanted a 24. Hope to see you out there our next trip will be in April.

Hey Spudwig-- did you go to Havasu/River this weekend? I saw a blue Schiada with a triple axle trailer today on the I-10 headin west around the Palm Springs area--about 3pm Cali time? I was driving to Phx from LA, but with all of the toy hauler/dune traffic, boats definitely stood out :) :D Espeically, Schiadas :)

Nice Boat. I have never seen trim tabs that don't line up with the bottom of the boat. Can you explain? It seems like if are on plane they would serve no purpose and if you weren't on plane they would only give you about 50% of what they could.

SPUDWIG
11-27-2006, 06:12 PM
They actually are very sensitive and work great. Lee and Stan explained to me that they are used for stability. Deep v boats tend to want to rock back and forth from left to right at speed. When she does this move, just a click or two on the trim tabs and it stops this immediately. The length of the tabs really makes a difference as well. I think they are about 30" long. I have been extremely satisfied with the performance of the boat. It handles the choppy water without any problems. I was in 3 to 4ft chop at Havasu running around 45 to 50mph, very stable. I am sure the boat in the right hands could have gone much faster, I am still a rooky when it comes to I/O boats. I have had a vdrive for the last 13 years. It has blown away my expectations. I am sure that the extension box and full hydrolic steering is also a great help as well. I am cruising at 65mph taching 4500rpm. The boat carries the waves at low speed as well as high speed. It just doesnt get any better!!! Awesome combination.

Thanks for the explaination. I did not realize they were so long. We had them on our last v bottom and they worked well at low speeds for skiing or rough water to bury the nose. Once again, nice boat.

Same here. I was very close to going with a Brummett fuel injected breathing monster, but decided to keep it simple. I see all of my friends with big hp constantly having drive issues, not for me. I am happy with a turn key boat as well. We always go to Havasu mid april for our first trip, I will let you know once we ink the weekend....

We started with a xr sportmaster and drive height was just too high. We ended up with a xr with a standard lower she is working much better now. We might put the sportmaster back on and try a custom 5 or 6 blade just to see what happens. This might sound like a stupid question, but how do you get the pictures to post in the thread without attaching them one by one?

I've owned two Schiadas, both 21 River Cruiser. Actually, these are the only boats I have ever owned. I really love the ride and performance of the 21 RC V-Drive. Such a great boat. But I also really like the lines and extra room in the 24. How well does 24 V-drive work? Most that I've seen are I/O.

If you go with a open bow 24 you do not want a vdrive. You will sacrifice too much room. If you were going to spend the extra money for a vdrive then I would go all out with closed bow, open stringer, and a killer turbo motor.

Offshore rigs have been changing the tab set up for years. Mine are not completely flat, a compromise for senstivity and function. Thos Schiada's are the chit for 24' boats!

Love your 22 with the Carson efi turbo. Why did arrowhead ban them? Were you just dominating the class? Your 22 has to be quick with that motor, the acceleration must be amazing.
