bikini islands atomic bomb tests during the 50's. i got that on video. place was so radioactive that they wouldn't let anybody near it for 50 years. everything seems to be pretty normal after divers explore the reef about 5 years ago. no nuclear fish, lol

I remember in school that we practiced 'duck and cover' up til the early 60's to prepare for an attack. It was as routine as a firedrill.

What happened to the ships that were watching this...seems the explosion would cast off a HUGE wave...

my dad said they were set there to see what happened to them..heard they were pretty focked up but correct me if i (he) is wrong but they were unmanned.

The military did set the ships there unmanned to see the effect on them. Some sunk others did not have any damage. You can buy the video from discovery channel pretty interesting stuff...DP.

The ships were unmanned al right. There where plenty of animals tied up on them to see what would happen.
The military screwed the Bikini island natives out of their tropical paradise. Really sad.
