SCSC is holding a race at Blue Water Casino, on the river. There will be two separate nostalgia classes, flat bottom and v-bottoms. The entry fee will be $25 dollars per day, $50.00's for the weekend. As always, there will be a 70 mph. limit. The flat bottoms will run 6 laps on the short course, the v-bottom boats will run 6 laps on the long course. Those who are interested can call me (Jim) at 1(626) 337-9621.

This race, and Nostalgia racing in general is for all those guys that have equip. and want to run for fun or bragging rights. Those individuals who are hesitant, now is the time to step up and and do it, not talk about it.

Here's an opportunity for all you ***boaters to show who is Top Dawg and do it in a SAFE environment!! No PWC's, Bayliners or jetboats to dodge.
Jim has worked hard to make this program work for the river runners, if you don't support it it may not be around forever.
So let's see who has what?

I have another boat that would be perfect for this. Does anyone know what the hardware safety requirements are? Whirlaway? Floatation? Throttle stop? etc?

Of course I need to get it to Billy B. for a make over. Otherwise, it would be voted "Boat most in need of a paint job".

Hey Le SS 13 ; It would be such a neat deal to have you, and your family come out to the April race at the BLUE WATER CASINO ! I can promise you a great time, and a rare opportinity to meet new people, who's freindship could last a lifetime! The sense of compitition, the crowd, the equipment will last in your memory forever! In reguards to your equipment, remember, SAFETY, SAFETY, SAFETY, then just when you are absolutely certan that you have your race boat SAFE TO RACE, You stop, take it apart and make it SAFER!!!!!!!! It is, in my opinion, It's crazy to race anything, at any speed, on any circut (drags, circles or edurance)without a propeller shaft release or "Whil-a-way" type of device. I do not think it is 100% manditory, I feel, if the overall condition of your equipment satisfies our inspectors and your attitude is comenserate with the SPIRIT of the class, then the "Whirl-a-way", or the lack of...could be adjusted to. With SAFETY being PRIORITY ONE, equipment like helmets.... IF YA GOT A $25.00 HEAD, GO AHEAD AND STICK IT IN A $25.00 HELMET!!!!! Get a good Lifeline or Security Racing Products life jacket, than hang on to your a-- cause this roundy-round boat racin gig is a blast!!! If you need to borrow any of this equipment, call me, my boat isn't going to be ready for this race, you can borrow my stuff.

[QB] I have another boat that would be perfect for this. Does anyone know what the hardware safety requirements are? Whirlaway? Floatation? Throttle stop? etc?Bring both boats, you can run as a team. I'll drive one if you need help??? Equipment requirements are the same as the flatbottom classes.
GofastRacer, in addition to the entry costs mentioned above, you'll need to join SCSC ($20/yr) and APBA ($75/sgl. event or $120/yr)I think these are the current fee's. Keep in mind that this class will likely be run again in Aug. at Marine Stadium.

Hi S.I.! Thanx for asking about the April SCSC race at the Blue Water Casino in Parker! It's teriffic that your wife wants to run the boat! I'm probably dating myself, but back in the early day's at the stadium, SCSC used to have "Powder Puff" races after the regular race program was over. Belive me nobody left the stadium until that deal was over, and the boats were loaded! You'll be ok without the "Whirl-a-Way", sounds to me that Your other safety equipment is in order so, If you are completely satisfied with everything else, then bring that bad boy to the races! If there are any questions at all, please feel welcome to call me, Gary @ 714-615-1173 or Jim @ 626-337-9621.

Big dog and GN nostalgia racer have heard from some serious flattie lovers. Are there any v-drive, v-bottom boat owners/drivers that have what it takes to step up and show-up? This program is for the guys/gals who are serious about having a safe, exciting challenge? Let's hear from you.

SO SORRY CHARLIE...WE all run a short course to keep the speed down! Are you at a mile or 3/4? I am glad you separated the flats from the others, its hard to run flat out in chop like that. The chop when racing in the back is bad enough! That Long Beach race I just watched thanks to J.G. was unreal! You all deserve a medal or turtle wax or something for running while Surf warnings wail! I also enjoyed watching that 73 Lavey run with the super stocks! Way to go Dave R. smile_sp

The guys up here tried to do that and I came unglued. I've been drag racing with each one of them for at least 3years prior to this and was taking 2nd place consistantly, the only reason I never took 1sr place is because I pulled a .399 red light, and my average reaction time was a .430. You guys want us lady's to do a powder puff race. What are you afraid of???????????
Now I circle race. A fellow, said something about a powderpuff race for the women. The guys I've been racing literally put their hands on the guys mouth and said don't say that if you know what's good for you in front of the Blonde. For the past 2 years I've had a bullseye on my back. I've taken the Championship for my class each year so far. We will see what this year holds. I love Circle Racing my 1970 Laveycraft against all those Raysoncrafts, Schiada, Sangers, B-boats and 6 time national champion and almost won until I got squeased out in the corner by him.. Get the video from CJ. You'll see the incident there. Women can handle the boats just as good as the guys. But, the men don't seem to want the challenge. Have fun. No, I'm not mad. I just wanted to get my point across. Be seeing you. :D idea

That thing will turn on a dime. And, since I come from a Circle Jet Boat racing background originally(a long time ago) and currently own 4 jet boats(and know very well how they turn), I am putting my $$ on Flat Nasty :D

Hi Blondbombshell! Please accept my apologies for not responding to your very informative, and enlightening input of 1-20-03. Thanx for not being angry with me for my referance to the OLD TYME "POWDER PUFF" events. I promise you I would NEVER EVER intentionally offened any one for any reason. That said, it is really terrific to know how well you are doing with your racing program, let me be the first to say congratulations. Allow me, if you would, to extend to you and your team, my personal invitation, to come on down to the river and show us your stuff! It will be just too bitchin to for us to race you, and even more fun for spectators, can you just imagine all of the gals on the beach that will cheer you on, and support you! Heck, you could be responsable for opening the door for, more women to get into our sport! Thanx again, good luck and Gods speed!

Wow... Hi Billy! Thanx for the very kind words, I mean it, when I say that one of my priorities in racing is to ALLWAYS take the high road around the G-- D--- politics. It may be nieve, but maybe just maybe, if there was a little less of it, the end result would yeild MORE race boats, maybe. Thanx too for asking about the "Big Dawg, GN117." Billy, the master plan at this point is to go forward with a total restoration. It will get a totally, and correctlly restored wood deck, total interior overhaul, re-rigging, I'm also going to have a new trailer built. The last race at the stadium, not only did I manage to break my good motor, we also sent the v-drive to it's final resting place, with all of the other scrape aluminum in my shop! I figure, It's this far apart I'll keep on untill it's striped and ready for restoration. The new engine rules have pretty much taken me out of the main progam anyway, so I'll restore her to a REALLY nice place, then run the Thanksgiving race, the stadium, and the April race,at Parker. Then Put the other seat in it, and take it to your deal at Needles, and then participate in one of those events up north.

BigDawg: Well done el capitain! You sure know how to sweet talk the Ladies! Such a diplomat, I hope to become some day! I am so glad you have joined us circle people here on the forum, and as stated before, with so much style and enthusiasm. For a couple years now I have beaten the proverbial DRUM up here for a place that the 'Little Guy' can run whatever he 'brung' and run! I think Jim Best said it best in his call to flat racers. I dont know you but I think I saw you run at Burley if you were the only wood decker there. I loved your Rayson just the way it was and marveled at the fact you were not intimidated by the big Boys around you. That's what I try to do in my effort up here and sometimes things just dont work out! When this happens, I am always inspired by my dear friend Lance, whose picture will always be on our Nostalgia banner, and in addition, the southern Nostalgia movement! I cant thank you enough for the inspiration your series of events has meant to US! We watch the V-Drive Video Production tapes as often as possible in an effort to just 'be there' even though we cant afford to haul both boats there. You do know why we have to take both boats, correct? Bomber is a wonderful wife and person and I am so proud of her efforts to race safely and most importantly, promote the Nostalgic movement in an unselfish sportsmanlike manner! Keep up the good work down there and know we are watching with intense interest and support!! Note: the Blonde loves Dawgs!!!We have three four legged ones, And the JeRk loves her! smile_sp

Yo! Circle Jerk! Hey man I hope you guy are staying warm up there in Spokane! I guess you probably not care if I told you that I'm outside by the pool drinkin a MaiTai? I didn't think so! Boy CJ, I must say, I'm so very honored, flattered, and truly in your debt for remebering my ol wood decker! The DAWG is my pride and joy, it is so rewarding, and satisfying to be recognized! Especially by folks like you and your very charmming wife, as racing contemperaries. Thank you so very much! A quick bio on the DAWG, she is the last wood decker in compitition, built originally for Carl Grossman by Rudy in 1969. It raced in many events, Miami Orange Bowl 250, it won that race several times, it ran Galviston against A J Foyt, Red Adair, and Rudy. There is much more but this may not be the place to get too long winded as I tend to do when I get started onthe subject. If you want more, we will talk later. Thanx again, please tell Mrs.CJ hi for me, and thank you for all of your
efforts in promoting our beloved sport!

Billy, Holy smokes! What an offer! I'm truely humbled by your extraordinary generosity. Please accsept my sincere gratetide and heart felt thanx! I'll tell you honestly, I was about to make a little barb of a joke aimed at you asking if you might know where one could get a real paint job done!!!! I ran out of space in the previous message, and didn't have room for my smartassness! I will certainly accept your kindness, and do the deal in accordance with your direction. First though, I want to run it down to Harlans for the wood work, and to Rudy's to cut the two 100 gallon marathon fuel tanks out of it and strip & reflow the interior. I'll flip it over there and foof up the bottom (I've got an idea or two to try under there I want to try) then gel coat the bottom, after that, the guy at Rudy's will prep ( to your standards ) for paint. I will see you personally for the details, and time frames. Thank you, sir, for your very kind words, and your support... remember what I said in a previous post to another racer, this racin deal makes freinds for a lifetime, you have proven my point. If ever you need me , for ANYTHING call. Thanx again ol freind.
