I use Shell Rotella in my Excursion. Chevron Delo 400 is good too. The OTR guys use it, so it's up to the task.
Truckers (I'm prolly wrong about this) get 25000 between changes with these oils, but they run triple the filtration.
BTW the manufaturer sez 7500 miles between changes. As you know the oil change people say 3000 miles is it for gas powered vehicles, I hit a happy medium and change at 5000.
JMO......YMMV

Welcome the the club!! I also use Shell Rotella T 15W40 in my pickup. The cheapest place I've found it so far is Walmart.

Run Amsoil products in all of my vehicles and toys and seams to work great. All I have heard is positive about there products.

I use Delvac 1700, I first started using Shell Rotella, but the engine would romp, on cold starts. Switched to Delvac 1700 and never have the problem. I go up to 5K or till the mileage starts dropping, before I change oil.

Do you change so cal guys change more often in the summer.
I tow my boat from orange co. to the river and back atleast every other weekend through that hot desert. and i will be buying bigger boat. should i change more often since the truck is taking more abuse?

Remember you get what you pay for, besides you can go longer than 3000 miles and your truck will not use all six gallons. You will have some leftover for the next change  :rollside:
