Im getting ready to pick up my new truck. Nothing crazy just another f150 supercrew 4x. I have narrowed the lifts down to rcd, pro comp, fab tech, and cst. As far as i can see, cst makes the biggest lift at 8 inches. I would like to get a set of 37 inch toyo's under it. I want it to sit high over the tires (dont want the tires to look to big for the lift). I want to go with a 20 inch rim, which i have not picked out yet. I have not seen any 150's set up like this around me. I would love to see some pics of this combo, as well as any feedback you guys have to give.

This is an old guy talking ..... :crossx: but I think 37's on a 1/2 ton truck is too much and going to cause excessive wear on drive shafts, u-joints, wheel bearings and the steering system. I'd stick to 35's or smaller or get a bigger truck.
That being said check out the website for SoCal Supertrucks....I think they have some great pics of the trucks they've done.
http://www.socalsupertrucks.com/home.jsp
Also check out the photo gallery at Jason's shop ...Rancho Motorsports
http://www.ranchomotorsports.com/photogallery.html
Might even give them a call and get their feedback....they know what works and what doesn't work.
Also save some money for a re-gear about $1500 to do both front and rear diff's. You'll need the new gearing to help turn those big tires and not over work the motor and tranny....especially if you do any towing...
As far as lift kit companies, I like CST and RCD. I'd stay away from Fab tech and Procomp....although others have had good luck with them....I just see and hear too many customer service horror stories from those two companies.
Again just an old guy with a slow boat talking,
Chris

To me, that's way too much lift and too big of tires for a 1/2 ton truck. You will greatly reduce your towing capacity, go through brakes like crazy, you could invalidate your Ford warranty, and you would probably be unsafe.
Just my $.02.....

Do F150's Float?

I've got an '02 2wd with the fabtech 7.5'' on procomp xterrain 35's (17" wheels) and love the set up. I had to re-gear to the 456's (still tweakin with the programmer to get the speedo right though). It still rides good, tows good and has power (for what i need anyways). Doesn't the 4wd sit about 2" higher anyways? If you go with what you described, it would probably be pretty huge!!

I just had a shop install a 6" fabtech on my 2001 F-150. I will post pics of it later on this evening. I am going to put 35's on as soon as my 33's wear down a little bit more.

How about try manning up and just getting the F-250 diesel you were talking about. Then you could put any tires you want and still have plenty of power to pull your boat up the Needles grade at 80MPH. Also remember what a wise man once said "what boat owner gets a green truck unless it matches his boat". So I guess you will be getting a white, orange, or purple truck. :rollside:

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I remember back in the late 80's when they were running 38-40's on toyota 4 cyllinders! Those things couldnt get out of there own way! However i dont think a 300+horsepower v8 will have problems turning some 37's. I guess ill ask the pro's and see what they think. Obviously a 250 with diesel power will really get the job done. I talked with my fleet guy yesterday, he said if i want a 250 he will have the new 08's middle january. I wonder if the underside is the same? I dont want to have to wait a year to get the lift! Anyone no anything about rize industries? They make a pretty sick 12 inch for the 250's. Fits 40's w/22 nice. OK lets hear you opinion on that old guys! Hey 25dic, pretty safe to say i wont be buying a purple or orange truck, im thinking white, charcole grey, of black! I know black is scary, but damn it looks good when its clean. If you would just hurry up and buy your house in havi, i wont have to worry about towing, or the needles grade!

I would do it! I had a 03 with 7.5 on 35's. Re geared it and had a extension piece made for the drive shaft had no problems at all with towing or power loss. Key is to re gear the truck.
As far as wear and tear on the truck, well that is to be expected. Your warranty will be out the window for sure.

Buy The Duramax!
I agree. I owned 05 Ford F250 diesel sold that POS to buy the 06 duramax. There is no comparison the duramax is superior.

I would never buy a chevy! I have owned fords my hole life and never had a problem. I have heard all the jokes and sayings. To each there own. I also have nothing but fords in my fleet 3 550s 1 450 and 4 350s again, no problems! I prefer the ride and looks of the fords. Oh yeah, the 08 super duty is gonna kill the duramax!

If the 08 super duty kills the duramax then I will buy that. Gotta have the best you know, but for now its the duramax.
My problem with the Ford was the tranny not the motor. The durmax has more power, but the Ford power towed my toy hauler just fine.

Just my 2 cents but nothing wrong with any of the kits mentioned it all depends on the guy you are working with and if they are willing to make sure you stay happy with your purchase. I have an 04' with 95k miles on it 85k have had a 6" pro comp coil over kit with 35 -13.5 R18's and no issues. I have not regeared it I have the coins just no time. Make sure you do an exhaust system and intake on the truck I would recommend Volant as it is quieter on that truck. By doing those two things you will notice a huge difference in throttle response and power on that particular truck. What every you do make sure you go with a coil over on that truck it will drive and handle so much better.
