Nope, he borrowed the boat to take his g/f watch the light parade @ the channel. Didn't want to drive it back to site six in the dark, he parked it at the Nautical. The plug was in (he spent 11 hours at the channel with no problem or leak). Came back Sunday am to find the boat he borrowed almost sunk...

Damm, at Black Meadow all they do is lock it up if you dock there without paying. :skull:

I am praying this won't lead to a never-ending thread asking for money to locate a sunken boat......

This brings up a good point. Do they make some sort of locking plug etc. I have left my boat docked up several times while we went up and partied. The boat was not all that far away but was out of view. I did feel a lil leary about leaving it but what else can you do. There are idiots out there that have nothing to do other than pull plugs.

Someone on here makes them....it has a special tool needed to take it off....pretty cool...and blinged out.

Saturday night was very windy. I wouldn't assume the drain plug was removed, rather, I would think the guy was an idiot for leaving the boat in the water. My money is that the boat was swamped.

I doubt the boat was swamped at the nautlical inside that little cove. Not a large enough body of water there to create big swells that would go over the back end like that. Im thinking an employee called a friend or something and tought someone a lesson. They should (if they dont already) make plugs with torque drives. Maybe a T-40. Easy to get an adjustable wrench out there but not as easy to cary around a tool box in the water for the different variations.

On say jet boats...why even have the plug in the first place? What water is in the bilge the pump can pump out, and whatever's left can just evaporate couldn't it?

PM Aquaholic502. He was the one that manufactured, and sold them.

Who let's someone borrow their boat? I would let someone borrow just about anything I have with the exception of my wife and boat.

Thats what I might start doing. I can only access 2 of the 3 from inside the boat. The one behind the battery might be impossible to get at.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that just because the plug is missing........doesn't mean somebody pulled it as a sick prank. People launch without plugs all of the time!! I've done it once. I think that the "Plug Puller" prank is now a scapegoat.

I could see it working on most V-Bottoms, but I can't access the inside of the plugs on our cat.

I wouldn't feel comfortable doing it that way....I would be paranoid there would be to much water pressure trying to push out the plug. Even though it probably wouldnt happen. I prefer water pressure keeping plug in.

While that does solve the temporary problem of the boat sinking.. If someone pulled the outer plug and you weren't aware of it, I think after a weekend you'd never get the wood dry in the transom, and have rot issues from their on out in the boat. :(

I can say with a reasonable degree of certainty that's not a Glastron.

Last year I had the unfortunate experience of having my plug removed while parked in the channel. We had been on the lake since 9am and it was now around 10:30 pm. I am pretty sure I launched with the plug in. We started the boat and backed off the shore and I could tell something was wrong, as soon as I lifted the hatch I could see water up to the spark plugs in a 25' boat. Luckily we made it back to windsor but the other guy that left his boat on the beach overnight wasn't so lucky. I believe it was a 27' Warlock vee that had his plug pulled. He was parked 10 boats away from me.
I now have a secure plug and I still dont take it out except for wintertime.

This is the first time I have heard of stories of people getting the plugs pulled.
I guess the next time I see swimmers around the dock I should keep my eyes open. How focked some people are!
I just re-read the previous post. So are you guys saying the plugs are being pulled while on shore or are they being pulled while the boat is floating in the water? If there on shore, maybe the thief intention were not to sink the boat but needed a plug. Either way there bastards.

I'm with you on this Phebus,Catman do i've seen the nautical cove as small of a body as it may be toss boats bigger than that like the SS Mino during monsoons. The winds were plenty strong enough to splash waves over the back and sink it. :)
Then again the plug may have been in and the guy took it for granted that it was tight never checked it and eventually worked it's way loose.

I would have to agree as well with that.....and that appears to be a 19 or 20 foot Caliber 1-so I could easily see why a small wave to me might not be so good for a boat like that with less freeboard then I have to deal with....

Is that boat equipped with one of Rex's new flush kits?
On a serious note, sorry to see it happen. Hope the damage is not to severe.
