Great pics....those headers could have come off a Ford GT40 and since he worked for Shelby its a damn good chance they did. Thanks for posting.

The headers where inspired by the GT-40. A guy at Shelby maid them. If you notice in the picture he is wearing a Norskog T-shirt. I will post some cool pictures of Norskog’s Boats.

I had considered putting scavenging headers on my boat when I built it. Bought some off-the-shelf dragster headers instead. I still might do it, sounds so cool.

I remember watching the 24 Hours of Le Mans back in 1966 and 67. To hear those 427s and the 180 deg headers was truly something to behold. Almost a religous experence. When the other cars went by the camera they just sort of "buzzed" by but when the Fords came by they thundered and you could almost feel the ground shake even on TV. The F*ckin French got so tired of the GT-40s winning they banned engines over 5 liters....spoil sports. burningm

My first boat was a 1965 Stevans flat with 427 Med. Riser Ford. Had more fun with that boat than any since.

Those Old Wood Deckers give me WOOD!!!!! eek!
Somebody give me the skinny on those headers. Why do they sound different? Are they tied to each other somehow?

Scavenging headers work with the firing order of the particular motor. The result is better scavenging of the cylinder due to the engineered arrangement of the primary tubes. The primary tubes from the RIGHT side of the engine exit out of the LEFT collector, and vice versa. The exhaust note sounds odd due to this arrangement.
Unfortunately this setup is cost prohibitive because everything has to be custom made, and it isn't practical for many chassis due to space. For this reason it works good in boats, race cars,
Panteras, GT40's...and so on.

My dads first boat was a "E" class Stevens mid deck woody. It had Silhouette II painted on the side. We all wish this boat was still in the family.
In my experience of interviewing boat heads for my video productions, it seems when talking "old school" the Stevens boat name comes up the most often. I'll bet they built a heck of a lot of boats.

Thats really cool, I also love the wood deck flatties, that Stevens has particularly nice lines. Those headers are ultra cool, I love the flat white paint on them too.
