ItÂ’s getting kind of boring around here since its winter time. I am going to move some of my post to ***boat since the Roostwear site is going to be shut down pretty soon.
This was the first time I had been to Fishers / Martinez Lake. I had wrote this for boaterÂ’s that had never been to the area. I am just wondering what others have to say about the area. Also, throw up some pictures of the area if the have them.
Dan and Amy invited us down to Martinez Lake over the Labor Day weekend. Thanks again guys. Pretty cool place small boats every where and just a couple big boats. I didnÂ’t take my boat on this trip we all rode in DanÂ’s TPR Mirage but my boat could have easily handled the weekend. I think this is a great place to take your boat on a big weekend. I did see one sunken boat but it looked like it was left over night.
The small lake opens up to the river what some call the Lower River and you can go north to the big Sandbars or South to some smaller Sandbars, Clear Lake and eventually the Imperial Dam. As you are driving on the river, the right and left river banks are the deepest part of the river while the middle is the shallowest. Thus, most of the sandbars are in the middle of the river and that is where you will see most boaterÂ’s setting up camp. The banks of the river are mostly filled with vegetation and reeds. I saw one boater trying to pull his boat out of the vegetation he might have lost control or been pushed into the reeds by oncoming boats.
The water was very warm for the river. Also, the river water is filled with sand and you canÂ’t even see your feet if you are walking in water about 3Â’ feet deep. IÂ’m sure this isnÂ’t good for your engine and pump but the sand makes for a great sandbar. I didnÂ’t see one rock on any of the sandbars we went to. I always wear water shoes or flip flops and didnÂ’t need either.
The bars are pretty cool too. There is an old school bar at Fishers that has pool tables and has a real casual feeling while Martinez Lake has a Cantina that has Live Music on Saturday nights.
Dan telling me that he misses his Southwind this much.

Talked to this guy about his TPR Blender. Nice looking boat. He got the hull from Tom Papp and then rigged it with a 300 Merc. He said it does 85 and the hull weights about 2400lb.
