This months magazine page 70. They're doing an article on Eliminator but yet they put a picture of a Cobra in it???? I know they look the same in the pics but come on. And yes, they have a magazine.

I also really like that article on page 22 ends mid sentence with no "continued on page 26" explaination, but there are a couple of adds and another complete article between them.

I also have a very hard time believing that the 27' Essex runs 70mph with a box stock 496HO turning a 22" Bravo 1. That is impossible

they also call the little red cat boat a mod vp and it is not a modvp at all. from the back it looks like a true tunnel. i'm sure the center sponson if it has one is not lower then the outer two. whatever.:mix:

My buddy (who doesn't even own a boat) got his copy Monday. He also lives about 2 miles from me.
I have not seen mine yet. :( Although he did bring it to work, and I got to check it out. Some sweet cats in there.

The overall quality of the magazine is so bad nowadays that when my wife offered to get me a subscription for Christmas I declined. Reading the last issue I bought was so painful I put it down halfway through and haven't touched it since. I'm not exagerrating when I say I wrote essays in fourth grade that were more grammatically correct. I PM'd the editor and told him as much. No, I didn't get a response....I guess ***boat must be outsourcing its editorial content to kindergarten students.

What? You can't twist your HO's tail to the tune of 5500 rpm? Your missing out:D
I'm figuring that either the essex performance was actually 59.7MPH or the RPMs were at +5100 bouncing off the limiter with a 24p prop (Which would mean the Rs, the pitch would both be wrong). I don't see the pitch being wrong as they couldn't have pulled any the other numbers with a 24P / HO combo with a +5000lb boat.
Quality is always at risk when buried in the data and logistics (and the scenery) associated test like these. My hat is off to HB for the coverage they give us. I make a living at managing and balancing specifications and statistics, so I expect and look for the numbers that are out of the band.
I was a bit frustrated that they let the labbed prop fly on the Baja in this comparo. So was the Labbed 23p Mirage plus be worth 5 MPH over a 24p Bravo on the same boat? Who labbed the prop? Now that would give me some information I could learn from!

I stopped reading the drivel long ago. Now I just look at the pictures... :D
I wouldn't even have a subscription if it wasn't for my mom-in-law getting it for me every Christmas (she knows about my slight boating addiction).

I don't mind the tech mistakes too much (makes me feel smart :D ) but it is disappointing to read the articles a lot of times. Not just disappointing... embarrassing. I don't know what else to say. I don't like being critical, but maybe someone will read this and make the proper adjustments to improve the magazine I have enjoyed for so long. With a little fine tuning, our magazine could be bored, ahem, I mean, HONED into a world class periodical!
